US troops could soon be mistaken for their across-the-pond counterparts: The US is now testing out uniforms with a camouflage pattern similar to the one the British announced they were using last week. The "MultiCam" uniform is being tested by one infantry regiment in eastern Afghanistan, and if successful could replace the current digital Universal Camouflage pattern.

One sergeant currently testing the new uniform says he thinks its superior to the digital pattern, which he says doesn't blend into the terrain as well as the non-digital MultiCam one, and doesnt mind being mistaken for an Englishman. Ive worked a lot with the Brits, he tells Stars and Stripes. Its not like the Afghans know the difference. The common uniform could even be tactically beneficial, he adds, since the Taliban wouldnt be able to use any knowledge of a particular nations standard operating procedures.
