KABUL – At least eight Americans died Wednesday in a suicide bombing at a military base in eastern Afghanistan, U.S. officials said. Conflicting reports were reaching the Pentagon on whether the victims were civilian or military in the bombing at Forward Operating Base Chapman in Khost province near the border with Pakistan.

The deaths were confirmed late Wednesday by a U.S. official in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

A senior U.S. official in Washington said the Americans were killed by an attacker wearing a suicide vest.

Another senior U.S. official in Washington said there were conflicting reports on the number of casualties, and that other people were wounded in the attack.

Anyone in Afghanistan is vying for a Darwin Award.

These eight just got theirs.

Afghan/Paki has been missing from the front pages for quite a few days.

Yemen is where the action is at.

How I hate this Jew controlled government.

The complete article, in its typical dribbling out style, hasn't reported if the KIAs are military or civilian (read contractors). I'm betting military.

I'm betting military.

I'll bet on the contractors.

Don't matter. That's eight more that won't be bringing their war home to the streets here as cops. Good riddance.

Why aren't there body scanners over there?

Because the no-bid contractor took they money for the scanners and ran. Ain't karma a bitch?

Not necessarily. They might be Mercy Corps do-gooders believing in Obumski and his volunteerism schtick. Half the US voters were fooled by this empty suit's false promises...maybe even you.

"US citizens killed in Afghanistan"

Some cut and paste:

The number of foreign civilians deployed in Afghanistan has been rising as international efforts there focus increasingly on development and aid.

Civilians work alongside military reconstruction teams at provincial bases around the country.

A "civilian surge" was one of the three core elements of the new US strategy for Afghanistan announced by US President Barack Obama at the beginning of the month.

Not I, said the fly. I retired from the electorate before 2008. It wouldn't have mattered in Texas anyhow. It's a safe red state unless and until the Hispanics begin voting. So far there's not much evidence they're into that sort of thing. Maybe they are smarter than some give them credit for. They figured out back home in Méjico that voting is a waste of time.

Map locates Khost province, Afghanistan where a suicide bomber targeted...

WASHINGTON (AP) - A congressional official says CIA employees are believed to be among the dead in Wednesday's suicide bombing inside a base in eastern Afghanistan.

A former senior CIA officer who was stationed at the base said a combination of agency officers and contractors operated out of the remote outpost with the military and other agencies.

The CIA has not yet commented or confirmed the deaths.

The congressional official said it was not clear how many of the victims were assigned to the CIA.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter with the media.

U.S. officials said the attack occurred at Forward Operating Base Chapman in Khost province, killing eight American civilians and wounding others.

Elections, for the most part, have been fairly accurately described as an advanced auction of stolen goods. I *think* it was Mencken who said that.
