It's still hard to believe a Republican could win in deep-blue Massachusetts, but if you're interested in healthcare reform you must pay attention to the election that will take place on January 19th.

A new poll from PPP has GOP candidate Scott Brown leading Democrat Martha Coakley by 1 point.

How could a Republican win in a state that Obama carried by more than 20 points?

It's simple. Republicans are motivated by the chance to pull a gigantic upset and torpedo healthcare reform. Democrats aren't so motivated, so the conventional wisdom is that the makeup of the electorate will be way different than it was last election day .

According to wiki, PPP is Dem Party affiliated. "Public Policy Polling (PPP) is an American, Democratic Party-affiliated polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. PPP was founded in 2001 by businessman and Democratic pollster Dean Debnam, the firm's current president and chief executive officer."

So the Dem Party leadership is probably trying to scare Dembots in MA to make sure they get off their butts and go out to vote on January 19.

FYI, Rassumssen has the Dem senate candidate, Martha Coakley, leading by a very comfortable margin. Rasmussen's poll results were released 5 days ago.

...A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds Coakley ahead of Brown 50% to 41%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.
