Krugman: ‘I’m pretty close to giving up on Obama’

By Raw Story Thursday, January 21st, 2010 -- 8:47 am Share on Facebook Stumble This!

071019 krugman vl vertical Krugman: Im pretty close to giving up on Obama"Health care reform — which is crucial for millions of Americans — hangs in the balance," NYT columnist Paul Krugman opined Thursday. "Progressives are desperately in need of leadership; more specifically, House Democrats need to be told to pass the Senate bill, which isn’t what they wanted but is vastly better than nothing. And what we get from the great progressive hope, the man who was offering hope and change, is this:

I would advise that we try to move quickly to coalesce around those elements of the package that people agree on. We know that we need insurance reform, that the health insurance companies are taking advantage of people. We know that we have to have some form of cost containment because if we don’t, then our budgets are going to blow up and we know that small businesses are going to need help so that they can provide health insurance to their families. Those are the core, some of the core elements of, to this bill. Now I think there’s some things in there that people don’t like and legitimately don’t like.

The Times columnist, who has been an Obama supporter and an even bigger advocate of healthcare reform, tried to sum up what he thought of Obama's remarks.

"In short," he wrote, "'Run away, run away!'"

"Maybe House Democrats can pull this out," he added, "even with a gaping hole in White House leadership." Story continues below...

"Barney Frank seems to have thought better of his initial defeatism," he continued. "But I have to say, I’m pretty close to giving up on Mr. Obama, who seems determined to confirm every doubt I and others ever had about whether he was ready to fight for what his supporters believed in."

Josh Marshall, of Talking Points Memo, summed it up thusly: "I keep hearing various explanations of how and why House Dems and the folks at the White House aren't deciding to scrap health care and do nothing. But it all seems to add up to they're in the process of scrapping the health care bill and doing nothing."

which is crucial for millions of Americans

Crucial????

Pure bullshit.

I see no one dying in the streets here for lack of medical care.

Most of us shoulder our own costs, those that cannot are picked up by the State as welfare and the costs are contained, we are not going broke.

Adding millions of new freeloaders onto a Federal care system will break us all.

That's the whole point. Ruin it all; make everyone 'equal' as in equally stuck in the feral reserve shit hole.

These people must be stopped from any more of this deconstruction regardless the costs, regardless the toll.

Every day these bastards bring the hot revolution closer and closer...

the fact is, these people have had enough opportunities throughout the world's history to see that socialism has never worked.

we are not going to be able to secure freedom, liberty and prosperity until these people are not a part of the political process.

other than exiling them, the only option i see is a move away from federalism to states rights.

when their own polling data shows that no one wants it, its clear that we have people who are beholden to some other agenda that is designed to enslave and cripple.

In a pig's eye.

Krugman is a full-fledged Bolshevik in good standing with the regime. He'll be citing his Red bona fides right up to the moment he is shoved against the wall and blindfolded.

Indeed.

No one agrees with me but I like to think and hope that the Mass vote was a warning shot across their bow.

The last Revolution began in New England.

the only option i see is a move away from federalism to states rights.

and, unfortunately, the long term (and seemingly completed) move is a hard break from even recognizing States at all...not to mention they're all bankrupt (save for ND). what a nightmare...

The Mass vote in my opinion was orchestrated to keep the lid from blowing off but more importantly to keep the Hegelian strategy alive and well. Many will go back to sleep now. Either way, these creatures that have taken over will not stop unless they are stopped. I don't see any more opportunities for politickal solutions that will bring our nation back online...time is up and they're pressing full court from every direction.

What does bother me is that the man pretends to be something he clearly is not: an economist.

That is correct. Let me say it again. Paul Krugman is not an economist. His colleagues in the economics profession and the editorial board of the Times may call him an economist, but that does not make him one.

This is harsh criticism, I realize, so I must explain my views in full. Yes, Krugman has a Ph.D. from MIT in economics, but his writings, both popular and academic, demonstrate that he does not believe in laws of economics. Instead, like most folks with socialist leanings, he believes that the state is both omniscient and omnipotent and simply by fiat can eliminate those pesky little problems caused by scarcity.

Krugman is an economist like Karl Marx was an economist. Marxism is an economic theory, not a political theory, don't you know?
