PULLMAN - WSU's eighth annual benefit production of "The Vagina Monologues" will be 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11, 12 and 13 in Jones Theatre, Daggy Hall. Tickets for $8 will be on sale 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 1-5 and Feb. 8-10 in the main lobby of the CUB. Tickets for $10 will be on sale at the door. Vagina chocolates will be sold at the ticket tables and at the door. This year’s show will be dedicated to Molly Hightower, who was killed while volunteering in a Haitian orphanage at the time of the Jan. 12 earthquake. “Molly helped the weakest and most fragile people of all - the abandoned and disabled children of a Third World nation,” said her sister Jordan Hightower, a WSU graduate student. “And despite what we are told, one person truly can make a difference. My sister’s life has shown that in spades.” A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends of the Orphans Haiti Earthquake Relief fund in honor of Molly Hightower. The remainder of the proceeds will be donated to Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse and the women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the spotlight group chosen by the national V-Day organization. In the past seven years, V-Day WSU has raised more than $50,000, most of which has benefitted the local community. “The Vagina Monologues” are based on Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women and tell of their experiences with intimacy, violence and sexual self-discovery. Benefit productions of “The Vagina Monologues” have been performed in thousands of cities and college campuses across the world, raising more than $70 million for anti-violence programs. V-Day WSU is supported by Health and Wellness Services and is part of Health Advocates. I'm leaving this one up to Dakkie, he's got a much better head for business opportunities than I do.
That's actually the sequel to "The Testicle Tales" and draws on many of the same characters, situations and adventures. (And misadventures.)
