How many of you would receive nearly 300 cards and a load of cash when people learned you were sick? Aw, don’t feel bad. You’re not an ornery, smelly old donkey.
On Tuesday, The Kansas City Star published a story about Ebenezer, a 30-year-old beast of very little burden that is ailing from bad teeth and white line disease on his hooves.
Since then, get-well missives accompanied by more than $5,000 have arrived at Equine Health Solutions, a Raymore veterinary clinic.
Somebody sent a dollar. A man put $1,000 on his credit card.
Ebenezer, famous for being the friendly donkey by the road, arrived Thursday.

It appears that the story about Ebenezer's plight touched the hearts of many people, including those at 4um. Money left over in Ebenezer's Care Fund after his vet bills are paid will be donated to a horse rescue organization.
