Jimmie Rodgers, and Whiskey Lullaby (my personal all time favorite tear-jerker) are tough to beat, although 'possum has some great ones out there, and Emmylou, Dolly and so, so many more.

We should keep making music, and no more war.

So true, Lod. Jimmie Rodgers sang the people through the Great Depression and his songs really touched people and captured the "mood" of the times.

Who will sing us through this time around?

assuming for the sake of argument that jesus was the first songwriter to smoke dope...

also assuming for the sake of argument that jesus came back...

jesus would find a label... or, more likely, the label, probably warners, would find jesus.

and that would be the end of jesus.

lol......don't you think that if Jesus came back now he would be ridiculed and rejected? I mean what would the warmongers say? He'd be bad for business for the money changers. He would get no mention on the MSM. He would be thrown out of Christian churches across this nation.

Reminds me of The War Prayer by Mark Twain. Remember that one?

what else do you believe in?

Let's see.....I believe in love, imagination, determination, courage, conviction, laughter, wit, the second amendment, a closed mouth doesn't get fed, moderation, creativity, ideas, Nikola Tesla's free energy, living debt free, an ounce of prevention, letting go, smiling, keeping my word, Sig, little children, sunrises and sunsets, infinity, wisdom, seeking knowldge, reading books, time is my most precious commodity, not lugging around emotional baggage, dogs, responsibility, gardening, taking risks, living in the moment....

That's a start. : )

it's obvious you believe in jesus, and you also believe in all those other things.

my question: will people who believe in all those other things you mentioned go to hell if they dont believe in jesus?

Could it be that hell is of our own creation? I see living hell right here and right now for some folks.

Fear is the absense of faith. Why fear hell?

All that we are arises from our thoughts.

To answer your question, tell me what is hell?

What does belief in Jesus entail? Belief that he was an avatar? A prophet? A man? A Savior? The Messiah?

Do Buddhists who practice The Sermon on the Mount daily fear this thing called hell? No, and why should they?

whatever hell is, will people who believe in the basic decency of humanity go to whatever hell is if they dont believe in jesus?

that's not such a hard question, and i'm gonna have to drop out for a while to pump up my bike tire and go for beer if you cant come up with a straight answer.

How can I answer, when you refuse to define hell?

In Psalms it states: Thou deliverd my soul from the lowest hell. And also: The pains of hell gat hold upon me. In these instances, hell is right here on earth.

Ancient Taoism had no concept of Hell, as morality was seen to be a man-made distinction and there was no concept of an immaterial soul. Did all souls go to hell prior to 2000 years ago? Is hell, as many religions believe, a continual reincarnation? Religions with a cyclic history often depict Hell as an intermediary period between incarnations (for example, Chinese Diyu).

Do you think hell is the creation of Jews and Christians? This notion of hell, all the various levels of hell and the immortal soul precede both.

If you want to ask questions about an issue, you should be prepared to define what you are asking. It's a simple question: What is hell?

Why do you think I am so righteous as to judge where the souls of other people are going after death anyway? Are you that righteous? I'm not.

abraxas  posted on  2010-02-07   1:46:17 ET  Reply   Untrace   Trace   Private Reply

#48. To: abraxas (#47)

you should be prepared to define what you are asking.

it's not my place to define hell.

from my understanding of christianity, there are descriptions of hell in your holy book, and i will defer to their definitions.

meanwhile, you need dance lessons.

So, Christianity is the only source for understanding on this issue of hell? My "holy book"? Gee, I've read some of the Vedas, the OT, the NT, the Dammapata, the Kabballah, the Gnostic texts, the cream of the Upanishads, the Sumerian translations of Cuniform, various Native American writings, Sufi, Dervish, Zoraostrianism, Taoism, Aztecs, Myans and mythology. Are all of these "my" holy books?

Small body of knowledge to find an answer, groundresonance. You should expand your library.......maybe you could have dance lessons there on Tuesdays and Thursdays. : )

should we not assume that you accept the christian definition of hell?

your position is so shaky you simply cant answer the question: why should decent people go to hell if they dont believe in jesus?

what kind of egomaniac is jesus, that he condemns decent people if they dont believe he's a god?

lame
