Jimmie Rodgers, and Whiskey Lullaby (my personal all time favorite tear-jerker) are tough to beat, although 'possum has some great ones out there, and Emmylou, Dolly and so, so many more.
lol......don't you think that if Jesus came back now he would be ridiculed and rejected? I mean what would the warmongers say? He'd be bad for business for the money changers. He would get no mention on the MSM. He would be thrown out of Christian churches across this nation.
Reminds me of The War Prayer by Mark Twain. Remember that one?
Let's see.....I believe in love, imagination, determination, courage, conviction, laughter, wit, the second amendment, a closed mouth doesn't get fed, moderation, creativity, ideas, Nikola Tesla's free energy, living debt free, an ounce of prevention, letting go, smiling, keeping my word, Sig, little children, sunrises and sunsets, infinity, wisdom, seeking knowldge, reading books, time is my most precious commodity, not lugging around emotional baggage, dogs, responsibility, gardening, taking risks, living in the moment....
whatever hell is, will people who believe in the basic decency of humanity go to whatever hell is if they dont believe in jesus?
that's not such a hard question, and i'm gonna have to drop out for a while to pump up my bike tire and go for beer if you cant come up with a straight answer.
that's not such a hard question, and i'm gonna have to drop out for a while to pump up my bike tire and go for beer if you cant come up with a straight answer.
How can I answer, when you refuse to define hell?
In Psalms it states: Thou deliverd my soul from the lowest hell. And also: The pains of hell gat hold upon me. In these instances, hell is right here on earth.
Ancient Taoism had no concept of Hell, as morality was seen to be a man-made distinction and there was no concept of an immaterial soul. Did all souls go to hell prior to 2000 years ago? Is hell, as many religions believe, a continual reincarnation? Religions with a cyclic history often depict Hell as an intermediary period between incarnations (for example, Chinese Diyu).
Do you think hell is the creation of Jews and Christians? This notion of hell, all the various levels of hell and the immortal soul precede both.
from my understanding of christianity, there are descriptions of hell in your holy book, and i will defer to their definitions.
So, Christianity is the only source for understanding on this issue of hell? My "holy book"? Gee, I've read some of the Vedas, the OT, the NT, the Dammapata, the Kabballah, the Gnostic texts, the cream of the Upanishads, the Sumerian translations of Cuniform, various Native American writings, Sufi, Dervish, Zoraostrianism, Taoism, Aztecs, Myans and mythology. Are all of these "my" holy books?
Small body of knowledge to find an answer, groundresonance. You should expand your library.......maybe you could have dance lessons there on Tuesdays and Thursdays. : )
should we not assume that you accept the christian definition of hell?
what kind of egomaniac is jesus, that he condemns decent people if they dont believe he's a god?
Considering that I've already stated to you that hell takes on multiple definitions, exists on this earth and arises from our own thinking.........I say you have good grounds to question your assumptions, don't you?
Hence, hell takes on many forms, depending on the people--Christians didn't invent the concept. Hell in multiple forms was in play long before Jesus walked this earth. Hell is not clearly defined among the masses. Some hells are actually cold, not hot. Many have multiple layers. Many are transitory states that the soul can crawl out of. So, what does the Christian definition and perspective on hell have to do with all those who perceive it differently? Is it even relevant?
Well, what do you think Groundresonance? Rather contradictory to have a compassionate, loving Jesus who befriends prostitutes and tax collectors condemn decent people, isn't it?
those people who dont believe in the christian perspective of hell are... not christians?
If they are not Christians, wouldn't they be accountable for their own beliefs and not accountable for a lack of knowledge regarding Christian beliefs?
Most have their own hell to worry about, wouldn't it make sense that these folks are accountable for their own belief structure, their own spiritual quest, their own concept of sins and redemption? How can the Christian concept be relevant when it is not in play in their lives?
so you refuse to acknowledge the basic idiocy of christianity: decent people who dont believe in jesus will go to hell
Actually, I'm acknowledging the broader concept of hell. Christianity is one perspective.......how is it relevant to all others?
Hell awaits other faiths too......shouldn't they all be worried about their own belief systems? Hence, Christianity has not been able to convince the world that it is unique and the only road to salvation. If you are attempting to convert using the fear of hell, then you find that other faiths have a hell that is just as worthy of fear.
What you deem as a basic idiocy about Christianity is perhaps a lack of understanding. The faith can only be as virtuous as those who practice. Many Christians do not believe that decent people go to hell, while many others do. What do you expect with thousands of sects? Still, it is rather shortsided to ignore all other belief systems, most of which Christians know nothing about, in lieu of a one size fits all. Once you study multiple religions, you find unity and you find that God is greater than one faith.
the thumpers seem to be coming through loud and clear, and you'll notice that they're avoiding this thread like the plague.
why is that?
Because they have been passing judgment on me on another thread. We are discussing this infallible Bible written and translated by very fallible humans. Mostly, my questions are ignored in lieu of diversions and insults and holier than thou self-righteousness.
I was just deemed to have "a heart as hard as diamonds" ...be afraid, groundresonance, be very afraid....lol
