Reading a bit on another board, a thread in which the Wolfman was mentioned so I post this as a tribute to him.
Credit to George Wythe for the following info on the Wolfman.
WOLFMAN JACK
Born: Jan. 21, 1938, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Died: July 1, 1995, Belvedere, N.C.
Nickname: The Wolfman
Also known as: His real name was Robert Weston Smith. Wolfman died at his home in Belvedere, N.C., of a heart attack on July 1, 1995.
In 2007, the FBI reported on concern about white supremacists recruiting soldiers, saying "hundreds" of neo-Nazis were in the active military. But in April, a Department of Homeland Security report on extremism that reiterated much the same point was widely criticized by veterans groups and some conservative politicians as being unpatriotic, leading the Justice Department to retract the DHS report.
Critics acknowledge that extremism in the Army is a touchy political subject.
Never saw American Graffiti, or if I did I don't remember it. Wolfman Jack was "da man" back in the day. Always enjoyed listening to him. They say he quit smoking and drinking and started trying to "live healthy" about six months before he had the heart attack and died.
