Title: The Pure (Evil) Genius of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

I have about as much interest in sports or the Olympics as I do of having Smilin' Bernie Made-Off manage what little is left of my Individual Retirement Account. I watch almost no TeeVee except for a short time in the morning looking at CNBC to see what the markets did in Asia and Europe overnight.

All week the CNBSers have been whining about how GLOBAL WARMING is destroying the Olympics, and they're having to haul in snow from all around the planet, blah, blah, blah.

I don't know anything about Canada except that it's always snowy and full of eskimos, so I decided to look up Vancouver and see what's up with that place. Excepts from the Wikipedia article:

Climate

Main article: Climate of Vancouver

Vancouver's climate is temperate by Canadian standards and is usually classified as Oceanic or Marine west coast (Köppen climate classification Cfb). The summer months are typically dry, often resulting in moderate drought conditions, usually in July and August. In contrast, the rest of the year is rainy, especially between October and March.

Annual precipitation as measured at Vancouver Airport in Richmond averages 1,199 millimetres (47.2 in), though this varies dramatically throughout the metro area due to the topography and is considerably higher in the downtown area. In winter, a majority of days (again at Vancouver Airport) receive measurable precipitation. Summer months are drier and sunnier with moderate temperatures, tempered by sea breezes. The daily maximum averages 22 °C (72 °F) in July and August, with highs occasionally reaching 30 °C (86 °F).[49] The highest temperature ever recorded was 34.4 °C (93.9 °F) on 30 July 2009.[50][51] On average, snow falls on eleven days per year, with three days receiving 6 centimetres (2.4 in) or more. Average yearly snowfall is 48.2 centimetres (19.0 in) but typically does not remain on the ground for long.[52] Winters in Greater Vancouver are the fourth mildest of Canadian cities after nearby Victoria, Nanaimo and Duncan, all on Vancouver Island.[53] Vancouver has daily minimum temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F) for an average of 46 days per year and below h2;10 °C (14.0 °F) on two days per year. On average, 4.5 days a year have temperatures staying below freezing.

Pure genius. What better way to promote the GLOBAL WARMING agenda than to have the Winter Olympics somewhere where they don't have Winter? The bonus plan is that they get to stick the taxpayers with a gazillion dollar bill for all the snow hauling, etc.

I would've loved to hear the collective gasp of "WTF?" from the Vancouverites when it was announced that the Winter Olympics were going to be held in the City Without Winters.

Not exactly true. Although mainland Vancouver rarely sees much snow, the snow is plentiful in the mountains surrounding the city in Winter. Whistler is an even higher altitude and rarely has a problem with snow. Although, it does happen and apparently is now happening, but they could not have known it would be like that when they chose Whistler.

LOL! They should have held the winter olympics in North Carolina this year. They have had more snow than they've had in Vancouver, lots more.

They ought to hold the Winter Olympics in Washington DC; that city has been closed down - govt and commercial - because of extreme snow and ice conditions at least three times in the last six years. Of course, you cannot blame the infrastructure: The city of Washington has equipped itself with more snowplows than you'll find in Miami, Honolulu, and San Diego put together.
