Beyond maddening here.

Whoever, if anyone, was prepping her for these appearances should be shot.

It's very frustrating and a clear warning to "grass roots" folk everywhere they need to be prepared to have an answer to this question for the Glen Beck's of the world. Say what you want about Jesse Ventura, but he would have given Beck a good dressing down if he had used the Medina tactics and questioning. Also remember Beck steamrolled Paul then warmed up to him and in the process changed his tune to sound more libertarian. I can easily see how the next person, unfortunately Medina, allowed their guard to be down and got ambushed. I said it then that Beck's ambush would likely work and she would spend the rest of her campaign defending her statement and then having to go back and re-define it over and over again. She did all that and finally stuck her foot in her mouth. And if none of that had worked, the final nail in her coffin was delivered the second the plane hit the IRS building in Austin. The media has had a field day with the anti-tax and limited government movement with this and they don't have to say Medina's name in order for that broad brush to paint her with it.

It's really unfortunate because Texas will be shackled with the slime bag Perry or the war criminal Hutchinson. As painful as her words were regarding 9/11, I would still support her and I would encourage others in Texas to let the emotion of the situation die down for a day or two before withdrawing support through votes and/or dollars. Flame away and make whatever opinions you want out of that, but that's my position on the matter and I'm not likley moving from it.

which begs the question: why bother supporting anyone?

do you think medina's so stupid she hasnt learned her lesson from this incident?

i'm really sorry, but i had to ask that question...

I still hold out hope for local and state offices and I cling to any glimmer of hope with the national ones.

I would hope she's learned her lesson though it is too late for her. I think she has been given some bad advise and talking points. Take a step back for a moment. Most people want a decent paying job, spend time with their family, live in peace and get the government off their back. We're a mobile society and for better or worse, people don't take or don't have the time to really question and research events. Take Medina's first comments on Beck and those sound a bit extreme. Now combine that with her recent remarks and she's gone to the other extreme. She was probably told she had alienated a lot of people with her first response and on recent comments she's managed to alienate the other spectrum. There are any number of ways she should have handled this from the first event, but jumping from one pole to the other has given Perry, Hutchinson and their acolytes nothing but continuous canon fodder to not only ruin her shot but damage the limited government and taxation cause as well. Most people are going to see a flip flop on such a hot button issue and then move on to decide between Perry or Hutchinson.

I don't understand the disconnect with Alex here. Ron Paul has denied a lot of Truther claims on 9/11 and Jones gives him a pass. Has Alex ever sat down with Ron Paul to address specific 9/11 questions? I don't think he has. So I don't understand the pass with Paul and continuing to press Medina on it. Alex could have just let it be and hammer away on limited government and taxation in an effort to revitalize her campaign.

Ron Paul didn't flipflop nor did he say that those who hold truther beliefs are despicable. Ron Paul did say though, IIRC, that 9/11 truthers sure weren't helping him. AJ said several times that it wasn't Medina's own 911 position that troubled him, it was that she flipflopped and, in the process, threw all those who have questions that supported her, under the bus.

that's not how i would characterize it. maybe you should listen to what he said yourself before criticizing and making accusations about AJ's duplicity here.

this is big news here in Texas. he should have talked about it.
