Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end. I never have even worn one, let alone opened it up for anyone. But you will have to overlook buck, the way most everyone else does. He sees things that aren't there you know. Then starts yammering about them. Next thing you know he will be talking 'bout the glorious wee people and how he has caught one.

Well, he's just moody because he was drinking when he told his real estate agent he wanted a house in a red light district and the poor guy got him to sign a check for a down payment, and put his John Hancock on a mortgage for a red light house. Once you know the background to one of his "make my day" questions, they often make a whole lot more sense, bless his warm heart and sharp mind.

You're thinking of the Vikingsholm Castle in Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe. That was my first thought too, but I don't think it's the same place. I pinged someone that probably knows.
I just viewed images of Thousand Island but I didn't find one that had those massive rocks on the shoreline. However, I did see some lovely castles. : )

Thanks Big Meanie. That one is lovely, but that wasn't the one I was thinking of when I posed the question. Although, the trees are similar. : ) What made me think Lake Tahoe is those massive rocks on the shoreline....many of the beaches at Tahoe are actually man made where the rocks were removed and the sand was hauled in.

Zip me some pics Eric.......please. : ) I simply did a quick image search for Thousand Islands and I didn't see any shoreline like the one posted. I didn't view the Great Lakes or St. Lawrence though.

There's neat old building here in Indy built in that same style. It was originally a gas station, but built to mimic the architecture of the then upscale neighborhood. It's at 3758 central ave, indianapolis; I love google maps - it was hard to find pics of local landmarks before.

Doesn't look like it to me.

Look at how steep the roof is, which indicates higher elevation than Tahoe (better to keep snow from causing a cave in collapse). The rocks are all wrong too. Not to mention the beetle killed trees in the stand are more likely to mean that is in a forest farther north than there.

Look at how steep the roof is Tahoe has a lot of dead trees like that Mike. There are many Swiss chalet style houses up there with the same sort of roof. The most popular structure on and around the Lake is a basic A Frame with roofs as steep as this little stone structure.

My desk top picture above is meant to convey my deep respect to these beings I consider people, and value every bit as much as human beings. I have been deeply angered and grieved by the slaughter of dolphins in Japan and elsewhere, and that is what context of being it represents. Sorry you don't like it, it is not there for others to like, it is there on my computer to remind me without the activism, money and effort from people like me, Dolphins could disappear from the Earth. Earth First!
