The record for number of golds won by an Olympic host country was 10 held by by Norway (1994) and the U.S. (2002). Canada won the 14th gold today with the men's hockey.

And if I recall from the article the record for most Gold's period was 13 - so that makes it a double record.

I wish you could see the all the youtube videos of the celebrating. I was in Edmonton in the early 90s when the Oilers won all those Stanley Cups. The partying downtown was something else. The University was right across the river. 30,000 students. I can just imagine what Vancouver will be like tonight.

It got me thinking - I still tear up every time I think of the "miracle on ice" in Lake Placid when a bunch of kids beat the Russians for the Gold.
