Caton is under arrest after being extradited from Ecuador.

unbelievable

"...the FDA declared Greg Caton a criminal and turned his case over to their Office of Criminal Investigations which launched a witch hunt to put Greg Caton out of business and throw him in prison. They succeeded in forcing him to serve three years of prison time in the U.S., after which he was released on probation. During that probationary period, Caton learned through a source that he was about to be targeted for yet another trumped-up criminal charge brought on by the FDA, so he did the only thing a reasonable person could do: He decided to move out of the country and pursue his business in another nation where selling anti-cancer medicinal herbs is openly accepted (and even welcomed). As it turns out, herbal medicine is perfectly legal to sell in most countries -- including Ecuador, where medicinal herbs have been an important part of cultural healing traditions for as long as anyone can remember. The idea of criminalizing someone who sells medicinal herbs would be considered absolutely loony in Ecuador. So Caton set up a legitimate business buying medicinal herbs from a variety of sources (including local farmers), manufacturing his Cansema product, and exporting it to customers all over the world, including the USA. His product is still sold online at: www.altcancer.com/cansema.htm The FDA, once again, couldn't tolerate this. So the agency arranged for Caton to be placed in the Interpol "red notice" alert list along with a description accusing him of crimes related to "drugs" and "fraud." The drugs, of course, were only medicinal herbs that the FDA deceptively calls drugs. And the so-called fraud stems from nothing more than Caton's decision to not kow-tow to the FDA's tyrannical attempts to flag him as a criminal.

With the help of this Interpol listing, the FDA managed to get Greg Caton arrested in Ecuador. From there, a team of operatives from the U.S. State Department pulled Caton out of an Ecuadorian jail and placed him on an American Airlines passenger jet flying from Guayaquil to Miami. Despite the orders of a local Ecuadorian Judge who demanded Caton be released from the airplane while still on Ecuadorian soil, the American Airlines pilot refused to release Caton and proceeded to fly him to Miami, in violation of international law. ...."

Obama's Interpol Deception

"...“There is nothing newsworthy here.” Believe it or not, this was the only comment offered by Barack Obama’s White House after it shredded the U.S. Constitution (again) by removing Reagan era restrictions on the domestic powers of the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol.

“Nothing newsworthy here?” Obama unilaterally elevated a global police force above all other law enforcement agencies in America – removing Constitutional limitations and granting it powers and protections not bestowed upon any U.S. law enforcement agency, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)....."

Obama elevated Interpol over U.S. law. By Newt Gingrich and Andrew McCarthy

"... What prevents the men and women of law enforcement from abusing their power are the constraints of law. In the United States, the Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable search and seizure while FOIA and other laws protect American liberty and privacy from being violated by rogue cops or corrupt prosecutors.

Secretary-General Noble and others who defend President Obama’s grant of immunity to Interpol claim that the order gives the agency no new power. But the point is not that the order grants Interpol new powers, the point is that it immunizes Interpol from the laws that can be invoked if and when it abuses its authority–the same laws that hold the FBI, a local policy department or any domestic law enforcement agency accountable for abuses. Since the President’s executive order, if Interpol were to act in violation of U.S. law, there is no law we can invoke to hold them accountable. And to add insult to injury, if an American citizen or official wants to find out what Interpol is up to, they can no longer do so. The Obama administration order makes Interpol’s files unreachable by search warrant, subpoena or FOIA request. ... "

I'm very surprised, but Ecuador LE does go after drugs as much as US LE does, so if they pulled that kind of a number, labeling him as a cocaine drug runner, then I guess it could happen here. Maybe I should see about EC citizenship. I think I'm entitled to it at this point.

I'm curious about the AA pilot refusing to let him off the plane.

Any bottled medicinal product in Ecuador does require national registration, but there's no restriction on claims of what effects any bottled product can have. There is no shortage of herbal type stores here. They are not quite the same as health food stores in the states, but...

Really? That's surprising to me. Is that just for drug runners or do they screw with low level potheads and those that chew coca leaves as well?

There's nothing wrong with chewing coca leaves. You can buy ready made coca tea. I understand it's good for dealing with high altitude. But processed drugs like cocaine is a different story.

Here, when they make a bust like that, they line up the suspects and put all the drugs, money & guns they were caught with on a table in front of them, and broadcast them on national TV.

Ah Ok. That makes sense. I remember being told that you could do that throughout S. America that's why I was confused. I guess I was thinking it was all OK. How about weed?

Were you fluent in Spanish when you moved their? Are you now? How is the atmosphere for Americans there? If one were to move to a country in South America, what do you think the best job opportunities would be for an American? Electrical or some other type of engineer? Telecom or other type of electronics technician? Computer science of Computer Information Systems? Nursing or some other type of health care field? Construction worker? Are the people anti-American? Sorry for all of the questions, but I have never been to any country in South America and no nothing of what their infrastructure and/or job markets are like

If Greg Caton had assumed the nom de guerre of 'Juan Valdez' he would still be selling his products from Ecuador and nobody would be the wiser.

Were you fluent in Spanish when you moved their?

No.

Are you now?

No. My wife speaks English quite well, and learning languages is hard for me. I'm well below the 50% percentile in that department. I can get around, order food and talk money, but beyond rudimentary conversations, I'm lost. I'm learning slowly but my brain is not good at languages.

How is the atmosphere for Americans there?

Pretty good. As a gringo you have to watch for being overcharged when transacting with strangers, and likewise gringos are a more attractive crime target, but other than that, it's fine. English is the most popular second language here.

If one were to move to a country in South America, what do you think the best job opportunities would be for an American? Electrical or some other type of engineer? Telecom or other type of electronics technician? Computer science of Computer Information Systems? Nursing or some other type of health care field? Construction worker?

Generally, the same skills that pay highly in the states do so here as well, though if you're making 30K a year here, you're in the upper middle class. Of course 30K will go a long way here too. It'll buy half of a decent house. Monthly rent/utilities run about $400/month for a good 3 BR, gated community house. But for any job/professional position, you've got to speak Spanish to have any real hope of employment.

But don't even think about a construction job. At least not the handyman/carpenter type work. Most construction here is concrete anyway, but those type jobs will not pay anything a gringo could stomach, really.

Are the people anti-American?

No. In fact anything "Made in the USA" is considered high quality, and Ecuadorians who move to the USA are considered "lucky" for living the high life in the land of plenty.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I have never been to any country in South America and no nothing of what their infrastructure and/or job markets are like

No problem. I knew little about it before I came. Something about it appealed to me. South America is a place that doesn't really exist for many Americans.
