I don't know how she got as far as she did in show business--I have an idea but I shudder to think about it much.

James: Her Dad opened what was New York's version of the Latin Quarter and was a Broadway producer. Matter of fact, he produced Ziegfield Follies. Barbara went to schools that prepared her for the media ... and, of course, called on her jooish friends for work.
