Iceland Volcano Eruption: Video, Photos of Eyjafjallajokull

by Jon Azpiri | March 21, 2010 at 08:07 am

An Iceland Volcano Eruption Under the Eyjafjallajokull Glacier Has Caused Evacuations and Flight Cancellations. The Iceland Volcano Eruptions Has Also Produced Some Amazing Video and Photos

Iceland had a volcano eruption near the Eyjafjallajokull glacier for the first time since 1820. The Iceland volcano eruption took place under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, forcing the evacuation of 450 people.

Thus far, there has no injuries or property damage caused by the Iceland volcano eruption. Officials are concerned that the eruption under Eyjafjallajokull could cause possible flooding.

The Daily Telegraph has reported a state of emergency has been declared in areas surrounding the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, and Red Cross centers have been set up for residents of the small town of Hella.

The Iceland volcano eruption has halted virtually all air travel in the country. Air safety officials are concerned that volcanic ash from the Eyjafjallajokull eruption could get into plane engines. Keflavik international airport, Reykjavik airport and Akureyri airport were closed. Icelandic public radio station RUV reported three Icelandair flights had been to be turned away due to volcanic ash in the skies.

The Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration ordered aircraft to stay 120 nautical miles away from the volcano area and all domestic flights were canceled until further notice, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reported.

The Iceland volcano has a crater that is about two miles in diameter and is covered by a glacier that spans approximately 60 miles. Iceland has its fair share of volcanoes. There have been 21 Iceland volcano eruptions since 1963.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"You've got to put right and wrong above legal and illegal. Because when tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty; and it is not rebellion at all, it is submission to the higher law that our government is in rebellion to. We're not the rebels, they're the rebels."

I propose legislation to see to it that this never happens again.

How dare the volcano compete with all that hot air!

Eyjafjallajokull

We ll never know. That is the scribbled spelling of the name of the volcano from the guy who named it. He was killed in an eruption and wrote that while running for his life.

That's my theory anyway.
