WXYZ) - The FBI was conducting raids Saturday night at multiple locations in southeast Michigan.

Action News has learned Homeland Security and the Joint Anti-terrorism Task Force is also involved in a major operation.

Federal officials would not say who they were targeting or where, but the FBI has set up a command center at the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department in Ann Arbor, where they have brought in two satellite trucks and a radio tower.

Agents have also obtained search warrants and multiple arrests have been made.

Police, federal agents in raids in Sandusky, Huron

A battalion of local officers and federal agents flooded the Bayshore Estates neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

A second raid was conducted in Huron. An FBI agent at the scene of the Bayshore Estates raid said a second, related raid was taking place at “another location.” Huron police confirmed late Saturday a raid had taken place in that city, but would say nothing more.

Likewise, FBI agents at the scene and at the Cleveland field office are staying mum on the cause of the commotion.

“We did make some arrests,” said special agent Scott Wilson of the FBI’s Cleveland office.

He said the warrants were sealed in federal court and he could not release any information until after the suspects appear in court Monday.

Sandusky Police, Erie County Sheriff’s deputies, agents from Toledo Police Bomb Squad and Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s K9 Unit assisted at the scene.

Capt. Paul Sigsworth of the Erie County Sheriff’s office said he could not talk about the investigation.

Agents at Bayshore Estates yelled at residents to stay back at least a block from where they conducted the arrest on East Cedarwood Drive. Agents placed a handcuffed white male wearing a black shirt into a silver car.

Some officers in green uniforms carried large automatic rifles.

“We’re definitely in the dark,” said Terry Mills, who manages the trailer park with his wife, Barb.

A resident who asked her name not be used said she was reading in her living room when she heard sounds “like a semi” and a police radio, and looked outside to see two agents in FBI jackets crouching behind her car and more armed officers in her lawn.

She said an armored vehicle at the scene was one she’d seen earlier in the day on West Perkins Avenue.

The quiet east side neighborhood has seen its share of disturbances this year. It’s been the site of three total-loss trailer fires, one of which killed veteran John C. O’Reilly, 66, on New Year’s Day.

“It’s getting to be too much now,” Mills said.

He said he didn’t know who was arrested or why.

I watched it.

That was pure speculation on the talking heads part. This speculation can get people killed!

We need confirmation of exactly who was arrested and what exactly they were arrested for.

The Capt. may not be allowed to talk about it but the Sheriff can talk about it if he chooses to do so. In that county--in any county--the sheriff is a higher ranking official than whatever federal agent is there.

Yeah. This leads me to think it was a motorcycle gang and/or meth ring they busted. I bet when all is said and done, it will be just another militia story that went nowhere.

But until we know for sure it still needs to be watched.

They might. The P Stones nigger gang in Chicago once tried to make a deal with Gadaffi (sp?) for weapons to blow up buildings. This might be something similar.

Michigan Ohio and Indiana.

If they continue tonight they will work their way down through Illinois Missouri Arkansas possibly Louisiana and Texas next. Kinda like a pre-emptive anaconda plan.

They should of done it all in one night. Now coast to coast every group is ready.

We citizens should be ready too. To remove the militia groups first is to have a plan that would be something the militas would oppose.... but now many of them wont be there.

Feds confirm 'activities' in southeastern Michigan

Federal agents conducted raids over the weekend in Lenawee and Wastenaw counties that reports say may be related to some members of Hutaree, a Christian-militia group in Michigan.

"We can confirm that there were law enforcement activities in the Lenawee/Washtenaw County area," said Detroit FBI Special Agent Sandra Berchtold. But she added that "the federal warrants are sealed and we can not comment at this time."

The website for Hutaree says that it is "preparing for the end time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive." The group's logo is a cross with the initials CCR, Colonial Christian Republic. In one of its videos, a group of men in military gear take down a burning United Nations flag and replace it with their flag, which has a cross.

Other militia groups said they have nothing to do with the federal raids.

"Neither MICHIGANMILITIA.COM nor the SMVM (Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia) have been raided by the FBI. We do nothing illegal." reads a statement on michiganmilitia.com

On the Hutaree website, it warns of an anti-Christ. "As christians we all are a part of the Souls of the Body of Christ, the one true church of Christ. Not any specific man made building or any man controlled organization. This is the belief of the Hutaree soldier, as should the belief of all followers in Christ be. We believe that one day, as prophecy says, there will be an Anti-Christ. All christians must know this and prepare, just as Christ commanded."

The group's message boards contained messages expressing concern about the raids.

A member of Hutaree could not be immediately reached for comment.

Dawud Walid, head of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said he was told that the Christian militia group may have been plotting against American Muslims.

"We salute the FBI for breaking up a militia that was seeking to harm American Muslims," Walid said.

Walid said he publicly announced the FBI raids at his group's 10th annual banquet today in Dearborn, which featured the Rev. Jesse Jackson as the keynote speaker.

Sarah Weaver hadn't done anything illegal either when a coward government marksman/killer named Lon Horiuchi killed her in cold blood. Sammy Weaver had done nothing illegal either but they killed him anyway. And they roasted upwards of 90 men, women, and children at Waco when they could have picked David Koresh up at any time. If they think that they are exempt from being raided by government gestapo goons just because they haven't done anything illegal they need to wake the ef up and smell the coffee.
