Health care reform: Why so many pens at the signing ceremony?

Ever try to sign your name with 22 pens? Not so easy.

"I've got to use every pen so it's going to take a really long time," said Barack Obama at Tuesday's historic signing of the health care bill. "I didn't practice."

In a longtime tradition, the president put his signature to the bill using almost two dozen commemorative pens, which were handed out to key congressional leaders and others who helped pass the legislation. It took the lefty more than 90 seconds to pick up each of the 22 pens and make a small portion of each letter in his name -- and yeah, the signature probably looks a little weird. "We are done!" he announced with the final stroke.

The White House didn't release details about the custom-made pens -- complete with the presidential seal and signature -- but aides to one recipient confirmed (on super-secret background) that they were black and manufactured by Cross, an American company. Obama used similar rolling-ball pens on his first day in office.

The president gave one of the souvenirs to Vicki Kennedy, widow of Ted Kennedy, and Sister Carol Keehan, the Catholic nun who gave the bill a critical endorsement. Marcelas Owens, the motherless 11-year-old boy who became a national symbol for health-care reform, didn't get a pen but did stand next to Obama during the ceremony.

The pen-worthy were primarily politicians who pushed the bill through: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, House Majority Whip James Clyburn, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sens. Dick Durbin, Max Baucus, Tom Harkin and Chris Dodd, and Reps. John Dingell, George Miller, Henry Waxman, Sander Levin and Charlie Rangel. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius got one, as did Nancy-Ann DeParle, the White House point person on health reform, and Phil Schiliro, White House congressional liaison.

The president kept one pen for himself and gave one to Vice President Biden -- who added his own special touch to the day when he whispered to Obama (in front of an open mike) that it was a "big [frakking] deal." Indeed -- the remaining two pens will be donated to the National Archives.

Poster Comment:

So it's "a longtime tradition", is it, for him (and past residents of the WH?) to sign legislation with many pens so the "signature" looks not only like weird scribbling by a forger but maybe could even be struck down as a jokester's deliberate fakery-prank with no legitimacy? Think of all the UnConstitutional trash we could throw out immediately! I'm hoping for a miracle that Judge Napolitano thinks so, too. (1 image)

22 pens?

Interesting number.

There are 22 characters in the Hebrew alphabet, 22 Tarot trumps, and 22 paths on the Tree of Life.

Intriguing. One of the things I learned in researching this escapade and the number 22 is that there are 22 yards in a chain, which is a British Imperial unit of measurement. The "souvenir" pens cost taxpayers around $135 ea. - close to $3000 for about 90 seconds of tomfoolery on the Hill in these times of economic crisis. I also learned that Communist FDR started the so-called multi-pen "tradition", Johnson used 70-72 pens for his "signature" on one piece of legislation, Bill Clinton used 40 once, and there are numerous other examples. All of those supposed laws with improper signatures should be thrown out, imo, as invalid.

Chump change to the elite, who routinely spend OUR money to the tune of a few billion here, a few billion there, and a few TRILLION for their REALLY dear friends.

As far as the number 22, and the relations to the Hebrew alphabet, Tarot trumps, and paths on the Tree of Life, they are all interelated in terms of direct correspondance to each other. It is part of the mystical knowledge of the Qaballah, which is rooted in Jewish Myticism, practiced by occult organizations such as Masonic lodges.

22 divided by 7 approximates the irrational number Pi. Occultists are fascinated with Pi and the first time the House voted to pass this Insurance Racket was Nov. 7, 2009.

Here are some other numbers I think are interesting about the votes:

More states voted unanimously in the House against the bill (11) than voted unanimously for it (8). 4 more states would have voted unanimously against the bill except for one "Yes" vote.

The states that voted unanimously against the bill are:

Alabama Alaska Delaware Idaho Lousisiana Montana Nebraska Oklahoma South Dakota Utah Wyoming

The 4 states that would have been unanimously against the bill except for one "Yes" vote are:

Arkansas Kansas Kentucky Mississippi

There are 4 vacant seats in the House. I don't know which ones but why are they vacant? Maybe they could have stopped this bill.

More info later.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_ (number) [ed. - link corrected]

In French, "22" is used as a phrase to warn of the coming of the police (typically "22, v'là les flics !", "22, here come the cops!")

With Obama's flicks of 22 pens, Americans are threatened with jail for not being able to afford the bills for CommieCare. Rep. John Dingell (Democrat from Michigan) was given one of the pens. He also has a pen from Johnson's signing of the Medicare bill. Here's what he had to say this time about controlling the people; nevermind that he sounds like he's not good with numbers or might be thinking of population downsizing by the hundreds of millions:

revolutionarypolitics.com/

"The harsh fact of the matter is when you’re going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.”

Because controlling the people is what it’s all about.

21 sec. video of his statement above: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk_HPs34usU

Flashback to the beginning of March, before the Democrats' CommieCare putsch. At that time (as during the Clinton era when they had the White House), they were gearing up yet again with their typically predictable demonization of militias and patriot groups. The SPLC (aka ADL South) had just released their maniacal report to that effect and MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan was working in concert with them to whip up a frenzy of hysteria -- even attacking the Constitution Party and the Oathkeepers as extremists. And what psyop appeared almost immediately, as if on cue, to distract us from the CommieCare by threat of force issue but the freaky Hutaree militia skit with law enforcement cast as angelic superheros -- now playing "coincidentally" in Rep. Dingell's state..."to control the people" with fear and whatnot.
