just as soon as we get these here deck chairs rearranged.
I find yours and the rest of the left's inability to address critics with anything other than smears and childish name calling to be absolutely revolting.
I'm a college educate professional making a very good living, leading a very decent and honest life to the best of my means. I've likely read and pondered more canonical philosophy and literature than you and most on the left, performed more scientific enquiries using strict methodology than you and most on the left, and routinely employ extremely abstract mathematical concepts in my profession. I speak several languages and have traveled to various foreign nations. I'm a good and decent neighbor and always pitch in to help around my community when I can. I give to charity because it's the right thing to do and I would stand up and defend anybody in danger that I encounter.
Yours and the left's insistence on calling names at honest people protesting government abuse of power informs me of just how dishonest and craven you people really are. How supposedly thinking people can allow themselves to be propagandized to hate their fellow man, who has done them no wrong, and then go along with it with such unearned elitism and condescension is amazing.
If you folks want to paint us as unsophisticated ignorant hicks, that may fly in your circles. Out here in the real world though, every smarmy smear and insult adds more and more people into the ranks aligned against you. Understand that, or don't, but it is a fact. The day I meet one of you leftists who can back up his or her sneering elitism with anything approaching actual intellect will be a day that I will see pigs wafting about in the clouds.
It would be really nice to engage in open and honest debate with people like this, but they have this horrible tendency to immediately resort to ad hominem, sophomoric snickering up their sleeves with their cohorts about how "stupid" we all are for not believing as they do, and then resorting to "tea baggers!" and "douchebags!". That this very thing is pandemic in their institutions and media should alert everybody to just how deep their ignorance runs and how utterly dishonest they need to be in order to justify their own views.
I approach debate as being constructed something like an onion, it is composed of several layers and pieces, all touching the main point but sometimes not each other. When speaking to these kinds of people I cannot get them to see any view but their own, and have rarely ever seen them get past the dirt covering the onion to the actual substance. One casual remark that insinuates that their Received Wisdom is not perfect and they launch into immediate and ceaseless ad hominem, smug condescension and beady eyed zealotry. Ayn Rand referred to them as using the "Argument From The Sneer". I think that's a very astute turn of a phrase that precisely describes how they operate. Strange really though, those are the very things their intellectual forefathers (Marx & Company) criticized Christians for doing. Oh how the wheels turn. :)
