The Freepers and some of their friends just launched a website regarding the Sept 24 demonstration here in DC:

http://www.supportthetroopsweekend.org/

I was told on Saturday that the only spot they were given on Sept 24th was ten blocks from the main event. Apparently Laura Bush is having a book signing on that day and they will be next door. I'll try to confirm this tomorrow.

Indeed and in a defensive, reactionary position.

By the 24th, Katrina should be only occuping half the news coverage. Hopefully this will get some coverage.

They've been mustering out 12 to 15 people as of late. They had 16 at the Cindy Sheehan candle light vigil. Fox News reported this as 250. Fox wasn't being dishonest, in Fox math 16 really does equal 250 if pro-Bush demonstrators are being discussed. If anti-war demonstrators are being discussed, 250 of course becomes 16 under the Fox numbering system.

And their scared.

If the fed response to Katrina doesn't convince them, nothing will.

There was a poll last week that said even Jimmy Carter would beat Jorge in a head-to-head election if it were held today.

Jimmy must be grin'n like a possum eat'n shit over that one...

At least Carter was honest enough to throw on a sweater and admit that energy prices were going up, up ,up as opposed to BOT loyalists who tell us would should be grateful that gas is "only" $3 a gallon.

This is absolutely true and I am scared. I just hope other people realize it.

I was talking to a woman this weekend who had met Bush in a number of functions. Her impression was that he is a lot more dumb and crude in real life than the impression one gets from TV.

I've never seen Bush in person myself. I have met other people in these types of positions however and the impression you normally get is that the person is extremely bright and well informed. Much more so than a person you meet in your everyday world. Even the Santa Barbara County County commissioners were like this.

The fact that many people who meet Bush come away with the impression that he is stupid and doltish makes me think that you have a very ordinary guy in over his head.

The Freepers are hopeless Busholes. I used to post there but kept getting zotted if I made any negative comment (however slight) about Bush or his admin or the war. I have also noticed that there are fewer and fewer subscribers with 2005 signup dates. Must be all the zotting. I don't bother with them anymore as they're all just crunched down in the bunker. Freedom4um is an infinitely better site. I'm much more impressed by the comments and general tone of thoughtfulness - and the lack of zotting. The posters here seem to have a far more realistic view of politics and the world.

Unfortunately I think Bush actually IS stupid and doltish. Even my boss who was a pretty ardent Bush supporter for a long time has been saying for the past few months that Bush is not the brightest bulb on the tree. I actually feel kind of sorry for Mr. Bush as he's obviously in way over his head and has just been a tool of the neo-cons. However, I'd like to feel even MORE sorry for him when he's impeached.....

She wouldn't be the first to get the impression he's crude.

Back before he was elected/selected the first time, there was an article about his being on a bus with other baseball owners and their wives, including Gene Autry and his wife, who were quite elderly.

And Autry had to take a leak. They stopped the bus to accomodate him.........and apparently the liar in chief was making crude comments regarding whizzin in front of Mrs. Autry.

That told me plenty about the person........sorry, but that sort of behavior in front of a lot older woman is NOT acceptable in any setting.
