Excellent song from the Farewell Andromeda album. I had the opportunity to see John Denver in concert in Atlanta one time. He was a great entertainer. Band took a break about halfway through but not John. Kept on playing and singing.

nice video. i was fortunate enough to meet him backstage once through a mutual friend. he was tired, but very nice, much like what you saw onstage. i always liked his music. listening to it now, though, always makes me sad.

I liked John. Didn't care for his politics or share some of his New Age thinking but still liked him as a person. Never got to meet him like you did though so I am sure you cherish that memory.

Oh, I agree with you on that. But it was obvious he had a good and big heart, especially for children who were hungry or hurting. Always hoped he met Jesus in those last few seconds, or will be met mercifully. I like to think he will be. I hate flying, but John loved it, and one of his big dreams was to go up on the space shuttle. I guess he died doing what he loved, but I find it sad he died so young. I hope one day I'll be able to listen to his music again without getting melancholy.

I know that for a fact. He came to the area where I used to live and did a benefit for a young person who had cancer or something (forget now exactly what but John did that out of a big heart--where I lived and the surrounding area was not exactly a metropolis). But there was a pretty good audience there and I imagine he had played for fewer, at least when he was starting out.

Forgot to mention it but of course I agree with the rest of your post.
