A violent new film from cult director Robert Rodriguez is declaring war on Arizona with a "special Cinco De Mayo message" in the wake of the state's controversial illegal immigration law, FOXNews.com reported Thursday.

That message is: "They just f---ed with the wrong Mexican."

"Machete," which features a knife-wielding Mexican assassin out for revenge against double-crossing gringos, won't be in theaters until September, but it is already sparking a political melee over Wednesday's stab at the Grand Canyon State.

In the trailer for the film, the title character is hired to assassinate an anti-immigration U.S. senator played by Robert De Niro. Protesters are seen waving nationalist signs as the senator speaks to a charged-up rally: "We are at war," he booms. "Every time an illegal dances across our border, it is an act of aggression against this sovereign state — an overt act of terrorism."

But before the trailer even begins, the battle-scarred title character stares out from the screen as he tells viewers that what's about to unfold — an immigration-laced slasher grindhouse flick — is about the current border battle in Arizona.

The trailer was released Wednesday, just 24 hours after an envelope filled with a still-undetermined white powder was sent to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, temporarily closing the State Capitol in Phoenix. The powder spilled out when a staffer opened it Tuesday morning, sending Hazmat teams scrambling through the governor's offices. No one was sickened, but state police and the FBI are investigating the incident.

It was just the latest development in a debate that is growing more rancorous by the minute.

Some outspoken critics of illegal immigration took umbrage at the movie trailer and its swipe at Arizona, which is the entry point for one-third of all illegal immigrants in the U.S.

In "Machete," the protagonist, played by Danny Trejo, is a former Mexican Federale now looking for work as a day laborer in Texas. He charges $70 a day for yard work, but an oily businessman makes him an offer he can't refuse: $150,000 to take out a senator bent on deporting illegal immigrants.

The film, which is set to be released Sept. 3, is produced by 20th Century Fox, a production company owned by News Corp., which also owns Fox News and NewsCore.

Through a representative, 20th Century Fox said that Rodriguez speaks for himself on political issues. The studio approved the release of the movie trailer on Cinco De Mayo, but it said it has no political stake in the immigration debate.

Representatives for Rodriguez did not return requests for comment. But the head of the production studio handling the international release of the film said "Machete" is a classic grindhouse picture typical of the man who made "Desperado" and "Sin City."

This was one of the various spoof trailers from the Grindhouse franchise. What bothers me, is that in the original trailer, none of this illegal alien crap was in it. Now, they make the full movie, and it's ALL about illegal aliens being good for America, and how they own this country.

Sorry, but I won't be watching this film, nor will I support such a bunch of shit. Every actor in this flick should be boycotted, PERIOD.

LOL! This should really endear them to the American people and help their cause tremendously.

That seems a little harsh especially since the actors fly in, read the script and fly out. They are probabaly several scripts (and years) removed from the politicizing of the movie. I've never read anywhere about Danny Trejo's personal political view so he may be a victim in this as well. Now if he was a rabid Communist like say, Alec Baldwin, then I would say BOYCOTT mother-dick.

I agree with Tommy on this one. I won't spend a dime to promote this bs or help any of the actors even if my buying a ticket to it didn't mean a millionth of a penny to any one of them. I don't care anything about propaganda films that allege that the Mexicans owned most of North America when the truth is the Indians, especially the Apaches, would kill their @$$e$ stone cold graveyard dead when they caught them trespassing. Atzlan is a myth and it is about time they quit propagandizing their young people and telling them lies about a past that never was.

Some info found on the net:

Mexicans are not U.S. Native Americans. In fact, they never got along and they speak different languages.

The Southwest's Apache warrior Chief Geronimo was proud to have killed so many Mexicans after they brutally killed his wife, his children, and his mother.

Also, The Southwest's Apache language is not Mexican(Aztec). The Apache language is part of the Athabaskan (Na-Dene) Language Family which is spoken from California to Alaska. ( Not Mexico )

The Southwest was actually Spanish terroritory. People from Europe created and named the first cities in California"

I agree with your feeling on this particular movie, I will never see it, but to blackball an artist for forever based on political dynamics that they have no control over seems a bit misguided. If Danny Trejo plays a doctor that finds a cure for cancer in a movie funded by the Cancer Society with all proceeds going to cure cancer, would you boycott that as well? My point is, follow the money. For a boycott to be effective you need to hit the bank rollers square in the nuts. You should boycott any movie put out by Twentieth Century Fox, Hyde Park Entertainment, Overnight Proutions, Wintergreen Films, Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis. They are the ones around long after the actors are gone.

The actors who took roles in this pos are all old enough to know that actions have consequences. Participate in an anti-American, pro-illegal-alien-propaganda film and pay the price. If they didn't already know that they will never learn it any younger.

Having met several actors/actresses, I think you may give them more cerebral credit than they deserve. If someone was going to pay you $20 million to read a script that went against your priciples, what would you do? $20 million will buy a lot of ammo for a Model 82A1.

Well, if they can get 20 mil for participating in an anti-American, pro illegal alien film I reckon they don't need any help from me. But to answer your question, I am not a rich man and never have played one on tv but I would like to think that I wouldn't take a role in a movie like that. Not that I would ever be offered one of course.

Stranger things have happened. Look who managed to slither into the White House. If I was offered the chance to spout nonsense at that price I would say "F*ck Yeah" then my wife would let me buy that O/U I always wanted. There are enough retarded bastards out there that our boycott would pretty much go unnoticed.

I've been around actors. Nearly ALL of the actors in this film have been outspoken on illegal immigration, and or politics. You won't find ONE right leaning actor in this film, Period.

I can assure each and every one of the folks who think boycotting these actors is a bad idea, that it in fact is right and just. Any time you advocate the willful destruction of your country, society and culture, you are a traitor. Period.

I told a group of people recently that I actually want very much for a little Mexican Revolt in this country, because then, and only then, the people might wake up to the ungodly betrayal that their media, and their government forced on them.

We are no longer living in the America we grew up believing in.

Yeah, apparently the folks who push for illegal aliens to flood the country are either very ignorant or willfully stupid. How would it improve America to have most of Mexico's people invade the country? I mean, look at Mexico. Third-world $#ithole with a corrupt government (not that our government is much, if any, better but you know what I mean). Not saying all Mexicans are bad people or criminals or gangsters. But there are more than enough of those kinds already in America and the government seems very unwilling to do anything much about them. Until and unless they get serious about removing the rogue elements I think Americans should demand a moratorium on immigration, at least from Mexico. And then model our immigration laws after theirs and when they whine just point and laugh and call them what they are, hypocrites. Their immigration laws are much harsher than what Arizona passed.

As for the actors who took part in this anti-American film and promote the illegal alien invasion of America I hope the movie flops and they all agreed to take their money out of the profits.
