Pistols, in the 19th Century, were called “equalizers” because they made the tiniest woman equal to the biggest man. I’m not even going to say I’m believer, because I don’t “believe” it’s true, no more than I believe 2+2=4. It just is true.

I have known three women who were murdered. I did not know them personally. One was strangled by a serial killer a few weeks after I left my job and she was hired. She was a young little woman, and for that matter, the guy who killed her wasn’t that big. I could have taken him, which is why these guys kill the weaker, such as women.

The other two were sisters, and I did meet their mother. They were raped and thrown off of a bridge by four teenagers.

In each case, if these women would have had a pistol, or even a knife, they probably would have survived. Even a two-shot, .22 derringer might have saved their lives, just with the threat of it, nothing else.

I once wrote an article about the two sisters, and made a silent bet with myself that at least one imbecile would tell me young people should not carry guns. I responded, “So you’re saying it’s okay that these women were raped and murdered, then?” and got no response.

I am reminded of the classical definition of a liberal: someone who would rather see a woman raped and strangled with her own panty-house rather than defend herself with a handgun.

I think it should be a law that everyone has to carry a concealed handgun. Sure, there’d be an adjustment period in which those genetically and character-deficient were eliminated, but in the long-run (meaning a few weeks) society would be much more peaceful.

I had an employee get murdered right outside the business I managed. Murdered and the rat committed suicide.

You don't know how you will react until it happens. I think that CCW for some (or most) will lead to a very false sense of security. It's a real mind-fuck and no one reacts 100% correctly. I know I didnt.

My saleslady didn't even "know" how to call 911. Literally. I had to do it by myself. Like I had to check the bodies by myself before the pigs arrived. No one else would. People would have let her bleed to death.

I once had to a point a pistol at some of the genetically-deficient who decided seven against one was a fair fight. Boy, did their attitudes change! And what was funny is that after they ran away down the street and around the corner, then they started cursing me.

An armed society is a polite society.

If those so armed are willing, and cold enough, to kill. My opinion is that few are. They buy a handgun, get the necessary paperwork done for CCW, and then think they are protected. They probably don't even practice.

I believe the more that CCW the better, but I bet most haven't thought it through or know what that kind of stress is like, much less to be able to function correctly through that stress. You have to go through it to appreciate it. I only did it once. That was a real eye opener and don't look forward to doing it again. I know what to expect now. That gives me an advantage.

I believe you.

I've never had occasion to even consider using deadly force...thank goodness.

Having been on both sides of a loaded, and pointed gun, I can tell you from my own experience that fear plays a factor in what you do.

After you've had it happen more than once, the fear thing goes out the window.

I live in a shitty neighborhood where a kid had a pistol in his waistband and tried to take my watch from me in my drive way. I didn't flinch and the kid backed off quick. Mostly because there's a moment when it happens. You'll see it if you ever experience it when you know what the other person is going to do.

It was all for show. However in a few years and if this kid goes to prison, that will of course be gone from him, as hesitation leads to one thing. Death.

I have a CCW. I'm very good with a pistol. I'm also very good at being very cold when it comes to situations that involve guns. Mostly because as a child, I was brought up to respect the gun, and the power that it has. It only has as much power as you give it.

It is better to be hated for what you are, than loved for what you are not. - Tommy The Mad Artist.

Fame, fortune, and a Nobel Prize all could be yours if you just publish your ground breaking research proving that character deficiency is caused by a genetic deficiency.

Actually I think this is a good idea except for one thing. I think it should be OPEN carry just like it was from 1866 to 1900.

An armed society is a polite society.

So commented Robert Heinlein. I do believe you are both correct.
