That Kardashian person I'd never heard of until a couple of months ago. Saw a picture of her on a market tabloid while in a check out line and for the life of me I have no idea what the hell I'm supposed to find so fascinating about her.

Not that I care mind you.

North and South Korea are in some serious sabre rattling right now. I really hope things settle down, the last thing the world needs is another major war.

I'm having trouble coming up with a single motive for NK to sink the SK warship. That honestly doesn't make sense.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"You've got to put right and wrong above legal and illegal. Because when tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty; and it is not rebellion at all, it is submission to the higher law that our government is in rebellion to. We're not the rebels, they're the rebels."

The leader of North Korea is and has historically been an absolute nut job. He's not a well person, at all, in any sense. Looking for a reason for his actions is like trying to have a reasoned logical argument with a beligerent bipolar person who has rage issues.

Did you have coffee this morning, or did you have tea?

It could be just that sort of question where Kim Jong Il is concerned. I do see your point though. There was NO real reason that they'd blow up a South Korean boat.

Then again, the Chinese that smacked into one of our planes way back in 2001, didn't have a reason either.

If it were me betting money, I'd be looking at the Chinese.

Now, before you ask, I'll tell you why.

The Chinese actually stand to gain large, if WE go to war with North Korea. Not to mention that if it got out of hand, they could literally destroy us financially. They also don't like North Korea very much, and we'd be essentially doing their dirty work.

I have seen first hand how Chinese people deal with their problems in my neighborhood, and they use other people to get things done that they themselves don't want to dirty their hands with, as they have to live next door to a bad neighbor.

Think of the Chinese, as Israel Light.

an absolute nut job

on the other hand, this is a nice excuse to trash the stock markets, which drives the price of oil down, which will be a good thing if the price of oil doubles when israel attacks iran.

but maybe the main reason for trashing the stock markets, is: destroying demand for oil disguises the fact that peak oil production was the neocons' motive to stage 9/11, and any action that lowers the price of oil makes those dots --- peak oil to 9/11--- harder to connect.

the markets have to crash sometime because production of oil ---the lifeblood of what-passes-for western civilization--- has peaked, and it's best we crash the markets a little at a time, and with the max amount of control, instead of letting nature take its course.

maybe this exercise can be blown up into an excuse to nuke china... what do you think "nuclear primacy" is about?

as usual, there are probably competing factions within the powers-that-be, each faction attempting to exploit the situation to its own advantage.

That might depend on whether or not their government is again giving out recipes for grass salad. THey did that a while back. And I think that they are still technically at war. There was no peace treaty, only a truce that still gets broken now and then.

I don't like the idea of what's happening next depending on that nutty NK dictator for life.

meanwhile, of course, sol cant bring himself to admit that people who advocate for nuke first-strikes on russia and china, people who intend to achieve "benevolent globl hegemony" by staging those nuke first strikes, people who most likely staged 9/11 to get their project rolling, are worse nut jobs than the north koreans.

the most comical part of the situation, is: this north korean "nut job" has had his people practicing for hard times for decades... which might be convenient when americans need a good recipe for grass salad.

in the long run, who are the nutjobs?

China destroying us economically would also mean that they go down. That's why they haven't done it yet. You can't strangle your best customer by the throat without strangling your own throat in the process. Without us buying their cheap shoddily made crap, their entire industrial economy goes bye bye.

We also have the know how to quickly put our industrial base back together. Most plants closed from the 80's forward, many of the people around then are still around now. Ultimately we have a better educated, potentially highly productive population. China can't beat that. If they want to go down suicide road, they need to wait until we have no idea what the word "factory" means, let alone still have them sitting around nearly pristine but uninhabited. They're pragmatists in the long view, they've no doubt taken that into consideration. Now is not the time for them to play us off against somebody else.

how you gonna put the industrial base back together when china is outbidding us for oil, as global oil supplies decline?

or are we just gonna have to nuke china and russia, as per the project outlined by our perfectly sane neocons, and be done with it?

who's the world's champ nutjob? ...bill kristol or Kim Jong-il?

Okay, that's one possibility. Certainly war with the south will only cost him though and he has to know that. Maybe he's got a nuke ready or Seoul he wants to use and doesn't care about 1000 cruise missiles taking out all his military installations, which is what will happen.

But who else would benefit from war? Would China want to destroy us financially? The only problem with that China holds about 1 trillion of US debt, so they'd be flushing that down the toilet.

This sounds strangely similar to the Gulf of Tonkin. What would the US gov gain from war?

That's the most likely. He seems more the "my way or the highway" than anything else. It wouldn't surprise me if he's finally decided that he's tired of South Korea and wants them gone because they refuse to join his little utopia. The man is an absolute raving loon.

But who else would benefit from war? Would China want to destroy us financially? The only problem with that China holds about 1 trillion of US debt, so they'd be flushing that down the toilet.

China would lose much and gain nothing from a war like that. Per my earlier post. Not only couldn't they take us out financially long term (there would be some short term pain, yes), they can't win militarily if it gets to nukes. Russia hates and has always hated China, I don't see them taking their side.

This sounds strangely similar to the Gulf of Tonkin. What would the US gov gain from war?

I really don't think it's required to *always* blame the U.S. for things. For that I'll need much more smoking gun stuff.

I'm saying that if the war with North Korea got out of hand, China would have a means to control our aggression.

Why is North Korea so impoverished? Well, for starters they don't have the Banking Cabal running it.

Kind of like how Iran isn't under the thumb of the banking clan.

See a pattern here?

sol wont answer the question: what would the US gain by causing war scares that drive down the price of oil?

the answer is, of course, that the neocons did 9/11 as a response to peak oil, and seeing as how the price of oil seemed to be headed towards the moon again, something had to be done to drive the markets down, thus destroying demand for oil, thus making the dots ---peak oil to 9/11--- harder to connect.

No, they really don't. They can threaten, it would hurt short term, ultimately we don't truly need them though, yet. Plus, they'd take themselves out. Don't overestimate their "power", it's a dual edged sword and they'd have to be convinced that suicide would be worth it on their part. They're pragmatists, that's not going to happen. They'll threaten, they'll pull back enough that it might hurt, but we still have all of our factories and food here on the mainland. Short term pain for us, long term middle finger to them.

Now that's an interesting thought indeed. War, to drive DOWN the cost of oil.

I am surprised that I myself didn't put that together. I guess mostly because I've been fixated on other things, such as why we have a giant ocean of free floating oil, poisoning our beaches and killing our wildlife. Thus being used as a means to drive home some legislation the communists want to pass.

Never thought that War would be the antithesis to a rising oil price.

War, to drive DOWN the cost of oil.

war in korea would screw up global trade (between the big manufacturing nations ---japan, korea, china and the US)... which makes the markets jittery, which causes them to fall, which suggests an economic downturn, which leads to decreased demand for oil, which leads to lower prices for oil...

but the dollar's been on a tear, lately, too, and that makes oil cheaper for people who have dollars... people like the chinese.

graph source

war in iran wouldnt affect manufacturing so much, but an iran war has the potential of wiping out maybe 17 million barrels per day of oil production by bottling it up in the persian gulf... which would cause the price of oil to rise.

(to put things into perspective, the gulf of mexico is currently producing 1.5 or 1.6 million barrels a day, roughly a tenth of the oil that's shipped through the straits of hormuz.)

it still looks to me like the israelis are banking on war with iran to close hormuz, which would stimulate pipeline construction from the persian gulf to israel... which would make israel the distribution hub of the biggest remaining oil region in the world.

could we be seeing prep for a war with iran, in which the big asian manufacturing economies are deliberately crippled to drive down the price of oil, anticipating a huge spike when israel attacks iran?

who knows?

meanwhile, it's likely the economic problems in europe are all part of the same operation that deliberately manufactured the housing bubble, which could be popped to cripple the american economy, thus destroying demand for oil, thus obscuring the connections between peak oil and 9/11... that bubble was popped, as a last resort, just as oil prices were becoming unbelievable ---$140 per barrel.

.

and finally, the whole thing could all be part of a giant change of command ceremony, in which the europeans are finally displaced as the world's financial leaders by goldman sachs, which figures it can grab enough oil by force of arms (via the US military controlled by goldman sachs' neocon allies) to displace the rothschilds... resulting in kristol's "benevolent global hegemony", backed financially by goldman sachs... and the rothschilds would be cut out of the pattern...

who knows?

here's what it looks like to me:

the big jews have had a free lunch for three or four generations now, by exploiting the holyhoax, and they've wormed their way into control of most of the caucasian world...

...but, just as they're taking over, peak oil rears its ugly head... and peak oil more-or-less spells the end of the world as we know it... and the poor jews' "tikkun olam"/"benevolent global hegemony" project, which would have been dependent on massive amounts of oil to fuel its armies and the economy supporting those armies, dies aborning.

there's nothing left to do but loot, and factions develop amongst the jews to determine who will stack up enough loot to dominate once the dust settles...

...so goldman sachs sucker-punches the rothschilds with bogus securities in hopes of crippling europe worse than they cripple america... and all this serves as the backdrop to the main thrust of the goldman sachs' efforts, that thrust being: loot every last possible nickel out of america before it goes tits up...

...those nickels to be used later and/or elsewhere to start over, once it becomes possible to start over.

israel and its samson option are the wildcard, and israel has probably just about used up its usefulness, from the big money boys' point of view, and the big looter jews are probably more danger to israel, now, than arabs or persians.
