Our troops should not be put in harm's way anymore than they already are like they're poker chips. If people don't want to pay for the war, BRING THEM ALL HOME NOW! We need them on the border with Mexico and I don't see any good reason why they can't work in medical clinics here to provide us with free health care like they do in other countries -- maybe even do some nation building for us at home for a change. Imagine that.

I agree with the "bring them back" part, but the "work on free medical care" part is silly. First because free societies do not endorse nor have Marxist style Soviet care, second because how could a foot soldier be qualified to diagnose, operate or prescribe medicine? Maybe they could be quietly and efficiently reduced in numbers, with disincentives for re-enlistment, until we have a pared down force suitable for protecting the U.S. in a defensive capacity behind our borders?

Just giving them more "jobs" domestically ensures that the huge waste and drain of resources and money continues. Bring them home and let them get back to civilian life after their current term is up.

In a free society, everybody could be self-employed. They would not need to be dependant on businesses or government for their pay, even if they worked in a facility where they didn't own or have any share of ownership in the machinery or the building. They would generate wealth and value themselves as they worked. They do that now, but people are under the impression that companies own their labor instead of them. In a free society, even the handicapped, elderly, and children would have their time rewarded for the programs they participate in for their care. They've been made to feel like burdens and charity cases in the current system but they probably generate more jobs for others than all businesses combined. Our military gets paid for their time now to do what they do. What would be the difference and Marxist if what they did for their pay for us instead of nation building overseas was to provide medical services here like they do there, in whatever capacities they are already trained for or can be trained for? Foot soldiers know how to move stretchers and gurneys and can be trained for first aid or whatever jobs are needed, like they're trained for other things. We don't have to be glued to the disasterous economic system that doesn't work well except for the wealthy (by their standards). What is it that people really want? Just some comfier conditions of economic slavery? Thank goodness our Founding Fathers didn't tinker around long trying to get England to ease up and see it their way.

That's a large convoluted rationalization at best. It would be Marxist (or rather more broadly defined, socialist). If you're free, you don't have sugar daddy government covering your living (or medical) expenses, nor demanding that you do things. It's not either/or. If troops are not needed overseas or for immediate defense, then they need to be put back in the civilian world post haste.

Personally, I just want to be left alone by the government. If I'm not harming somebody or stealing from them, the government should not even be on my radar in life. That's what I want.

If troops are not needed overseas or for immediate defense, then they need to be put back in the civilian world post haste.

America always needs troops at the ready for immediate defense and medical facilities are needed for them. We pay for all of that. It is not "Marxist", imo, to utilize our military and its medical faciliies more efficiently for us while they are on guard duty. It is Marxist for them to be used to provide those services overseas for countries that pay us nothing for it.
