If you're ever lucky enough to be in Afghanistan, Gunnery Sgt. Benjamin Lepping’s left butt cheek has a special surprise.

Sarah Palin.

Or, as Lepping puts it, "the hottest cougar in the Republican Party."

News of Lepping's Palin tattoo -- which displays her trademark glasses and smiling mug -- has apparently been making the rounds in Lepping's ranks overseas, and appeared online at the Military Times website on Thursday. The Times' headline was, "Marine’s cheeky Sarah Palin tattoo the butt of jokes."

"When I came to Afghanistan, I expected to find many strange and unusual sights," the paper's reporter penned. "A gunnery sergeant with a tattoo of Sarah Palin on his buttocks wasn’t one of them."

Which - St. Sarah or the Tattoo?

I still don't get what people are going ga ga over though. She is not an ugly woman, but I don't find her particularly compelling. She is "handsome" rather than beautiful, but not in a way that I find attractive. She just leaves me flat - a big yawn.

Good question. I honestly don't know - there is something about her that I find repellant. I can't put my finger on it though. In any event I don't do married women even if they're willing. I'm old fashioned that way - not a prude though as I am rather fond of the fair sex and there is no such thing as fair sex - some is just better.

No, the guy 's hairy old butt cheek.

I don't think she's all that great looking either.

Different tastes, I guess.

Everybody needs a niche...that particular one is mine. And it's a fun one, as niches go.

As for Palin, if they could clip her vocal cords so that whateverthefuck accent she has doesn't grate across my nerve endings like a bastard file over a bum tooth, I'd hit it like the fist of an angry God...for about a week, then she'd have to go.

While you are all making your remarks about a woman, who is pleasant to look at, this country is falling apart. You are committing the VERY same act as you/we accuse others of doing, i.e., attacking someone's opinion when we have the 1st amendment, calling names when informative discussion would accomplish a helluva lot more than being catty, etc., etc., etc.

Now, folks, this country is going to hell in a handbasket at a very FAST pace. I keep asking, "And what are we gonna do about it?" and nary a reply. There is plenty of complaining on this site, but few ideas to solve the problems and NO conversation of gathering and doing.

By the way, I would rather look at Palin any day than 99% of those sitting in Congress. As for her voice, I have both a mute and a power button.

i find her, to use your word, repellent.

Devvy Kidd does not even speak that highly of her.

Her persona strikes me as shallow, vapid, and of no higher than high normal intelligence. The thought of having dinner conversation with her evokes the phrase "arduous labor". I do not think one should reasonably expect "bon mot's" from her. I can just imagine, deliciously, my friend Libby exchanging "pleasantries" with her - the image of a Cat playing with a rather dull mouse comes to mind. ;-)

I can see why she's so popular at El Pee.

While I share your concerns - one cannot be serious, or dwell on the grimmer aspects of our society, 24/7 else one would go quite mad. A little comedy relief, such as Sarah on some Marine's butt, provides a few trifles of amusement and a relief valve. Which is about all "Dear Sarah" is good for.

OI I was with you until that.

It was your usual well thought out response until that point.

You most likely are correct, however, I and others have ALWAYS been wary when all shades of the political spectrum attempt to demean any politician or person, there is in the background a group with an agenda orchestrating the baying wolves.

Months ago when BOTH pubs and dems did their best to destroy Palin, I and many others refused to get on the bandwagon, not because Sarah is a huge plus, rather because there has to be a reason to sway the sheep.

I don't know about all those positive characteristics, but its time to get on with things more productive than tearing up a mother of five, the last of whom is a Down's Syndrome child, and calling a soldier names because he chose to put a tattoo of the woman on his ass.

Humor I accept and enjoy as much as the next guy. However, I obviously have "a problem" with watching you attack someone who is the mother of children, some of whom are old enough to read. It would break my heart to think that such commentary would ever be read by her innocent children. I am sharing my opinions, nothing more. I expect full well to see such activity continue.

Lieberals don't read - they "emote".

They wander around in a haze of stereotypes and prejudices and then just assume that anyone who does not goosestep in time with them fits their fractured and perverted world view of what a libertarian or conservative is.

Yikes...imagine spending 8 months of winter with that voice? It's worse than Fran Drescher, like a drillbit to the temple.

I wonder what the divorce/spousal murder rate is in those states? Gotta be primarily due to having to listen to that accent.

A case in point:

It's a regional accent. The residents are all deaf to it. Most rural areas do have distinctive local accents.
