A life in prison term was imposed Wednesday upon a married father of one who dragged a paralyzed woman out of her wheelchair, raped her, and then left her lying nude in an alley. The woman, who suffers from cerebral palsy, had been in a shopping center Oct. 30 in the 3300 block of North McCarran Boulevard when Joel Eliazar Ortega, 30, led her behind a business and attacked her. Soon after, Reno police officers responding to a call that Ortega was battering his wife in their nearby apartment, recognized Ortega as fitting the description of the suspect. He was arrested after the victim identified him. Chief Deputy District Attorney Bruce Hahn described the crime as among the most ghastly sexual assaults he’s ever seen. “She was dragged from her wheelchair, her clothes taken off, sexually assaulted and then left lying in an alley,” said Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan. “I have listened to you carefully, and you said ‘things happen’ and you get in trouble based on your behavior and doctors say you can’t take care of your daughter. “You are a danger,” Flanagan said. “...you are lucky there is only one life sentence I can impose in this case.” In rendering a sentence of life against Ortega, Flannagan said he would be eligible for parole after serving at least 10 years in prison. Ortega is also an illegal immigrant who also must face immigration charges. His public defender, John Malone, said Ortega has been receiving treatment at the state’s mental hospital for several years. He blamed the rape on Ortega not taking his psychiatric medicines and drinking alcohol. Ortega pleaded guilty to the rape, and was also convicted of domestic violence, related to when police responded to his apartment after the assault. The victim was not present in court, although her father was and said he was too emotional to speak about the incident.

Wonder if this animal is one of Calderon's relatives he always talks about coming into Aztlan and doing the stuff lazy Americans simply refuse to do? At any rate, Calderon's gonna be really pissed about it. He'll be back up next week in our Congress claiming the rapist was tortured into a confession.
Happy, you are one fast hand at going to the source and getting that post out. : ) This story really made me ill. Now, our tax dollars have to pay to feed and cloth and fix the teeth of this POS.
Notice now how 'all of a sudden' the animal has a "mental disorder / problem?" #1 - Who paid to have this illegal alien diagnosed as being a pervert? #2 - Why didn't WHOEVER diagnosed hims as a mental pervert LOCK THE SON-OF-A-BITCH up and DEPORT HIS WORMY ASS BACK TO MEXICO?

He's illegal, with a mental disease and not taking his medication. What a combination. If I recall correctly, before I immigrated legaly to the USA, I had to go through a complete physical exam that included mental and psychic examination. Illegals obviously don't go through any of that and when here don't seek help neither and then the rest of the population ends up victim of these people. Also, if he had prescription medication, that's a sign that he had seen a doctor who failed to society by letting someone with a violent psychic condition be out in the streets knowing that he is a ticking time bomb. Someone like him should be in an institution where the medication is administered when it should be. He cannot be trusted to take his medication and the result is the crime/s that he committed.
