Rand Paul recently released a statement on his position regarding Israel. He states that the U.S. and Israel have a 'special relationship' and 'common values'. He states that he would cut foreign aid to anyone who threatens Israel, yey makes no mention of cutting aid to Israel. Constantly referring to Israel as 'her', Paul remarks that Israeli military is among the 'bravest' in the world. Included in Paul's statement is the seemingly obligatory admonishment of Iran. Such rhetoric has won Paul the endorsement of James Dobson, Sarah Palin, and PNAC ('new Pearl Harbor') signatory Steve Forbes. Aligning oneself with such neoconservatives and zionists makes one question whether the small government rhetoric the younger Paul espouses can be sustained in actual practice. The American Spectator ran an April article entitled Rand Paul and Israel' which notes Rand's differences from his father Ron, and includes the full text of Rand's policy statement.
