And not in a good way. LOL I wake up this morning, and granted, not well rested, but I'm skimming through some "news" stuff and op-ed pieces that indicate to me that very few people think that we are in any kind of dire trouble. It's politics as usual with writers bitching about the same exact stuff they were bitching about in the '80s or '90s while suggesting the same "solutions." I also had some conversations over the weekend with varying people, some of whom I thought should understand at least some basic fundamental stuff in terms of not being snowed by the MSM, yet they seemed clueless. There's talk in the media, as usual, of this current economic climate for the US being just another road bump (my term) in the "cyclical economic nature" of things. Yet, in looking at our debt, how is it even possible for a nation to recover from something like this? As I see it there is simply no mathematical way to recover w/o unprecedented and perhaps even epochal pain and pervasive if not comprehensive societal upheaval. The states and municipalities are no better off, perhaps worse in most cases. People are focusing on superficial entertainment related stuff seemingly clueless and/or unphased as to any notion of any looming problems. Oh sure, many people are cutting back on spending and such, but there's little indication that most think that we are in anything but the next normal/routine cycle. I try to talk to people from time to time, more so recently thinking that perhaps current events have slapped some reason and cognizance into peoples' heads, but I'm met with the looks that no doubt many of y'all are familiar with, looks of "oh come on, you don't really believe all that, do you," or "oh come on, you're not 'one of those' people...," etc. I will ask them, seemingly bright people, questions about why they believe what they believe on "current events" and the like, and all I get is a litany of Douche Lameblow drivel, Faux Snooze or NY Slimes, etc. nonsense. For example, we're starting to read about how government pensions are being cut and with people and media acting as if these first-line and nominal pension "changes" are the solution. But the fact of the matter is that the budgets of municipalities, states, and the FedGov are still way out of whack. As I see it, none of those pensions will ever get paid for people more than a few years away from retirement. That math simply isn't there to support that they will. Even after these trivial cuts, that many people and media treat as huge, the budgets are still just as much out of whack as they were before them indicative that these "cuts" are merely a drop in the bucket, but few seem to have a clue in that way. I could go on, but presumably most of you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I just feel like I'm living in a Twilight Zone.

"oh come on, you're not 'one of those' people...," Yes, Eric, my experience is just as yours...as another here says "it is too late".
