Just spent the last six days in Texas, from Denton to Sinton to Goliad to Gainesville. Rented a car, stayed in great hotels, and even managed to eat some outstanding Tex-Mex food, but there's a f'kload of Texas to drive across and I noted the following: 1) 95 percent of the FM radio stations are Mexican crapfest music. WTF? I used to be able to count on western swing, classic country, southern rock, or eclectic Austin mix for miles and miles. Now it's accordion shit and Mexican disco. 2) And while we're on the subject of Austin. What.the.fuck.? I got caught on I-35 at Round Rock at around 3 PM and it took two f'kin hours to get clear of Austin. AUSTIN. I-35 is six lanes through that MF. This isn't Dallas, which I blazed through at 75 mph, or San Antonio (ditto). Next time I'm loading up my iPod and leaving the radio off. I will make the following observations. Port Aransas, although, unfortunately discovered by all too many people and over-touristy, is as close to heaven as one needs. Uncle Julio's is the best Tex-Mex food going. End of story. Also, there's this medieval-looking fortress out in the middle of nowhere east Texas (Goliad/Presidio la Bahia). Why isn't this better known than the Alamo? The argument could be made that even though the Alamo garrison was outnumbered and surprise-attacked at 3:00 - 4:00 AM, they were men-at-arms. Goliad was an outright war crime where unarmed prisoners were summarily shot, including the wounded, then burned and fed to the wolves. Go there. Walk around Bahia. I still love it, but it ain't the Texas I remember from 1968.

Hell, that doesn't sound like the Texas I remember from 1986. I was stationed there then, loved it. Sounds like some Texans need to clean house and follow Arizona's lead.

Yes, we suck. Next time in Austin tune in to 90.1FM to catch GCN on the radio - local micro-broadcaster. Dear Leaders here are poised to spend 2M for a study of what's to be done with IH35....God only knows what that will bring to us.

yeah, the traffic on I35 especially in Round Rock is horrendous. this area has grown way too much.
i grew up in that area. i know what you mean. the beltway and I70. total nightmares.
watch the old film Easy Rider sometime to see just how much the country's changed.

My solution on the trip back was to skip the interstate until Waco by driving from Port A to Goliad to Shiner to Temple, etc. No way was I gonna risk baking the other half of my ass on the northbound lanes of I-35. A couple of addenda: I had two of my four complimentary four ounce cups of beer at Spoetzl brewing company in Shiner on an empty stomach and was pretty much unfit to drive for about 30 miles. Brought home a case of Shiner 101, Ziegenbock being a bit too hard to find. And as for the "sleepy little town" of China Grove, TX...the girls at the General Store...fist of an angry god hot. Just sayin'. For comparison purposes, I got through Monday evening rush hour in Dallas, not including a foray through downtown to have an early dinner, in less than 30 minutes. For population comparison, I think probably more people die in DFW metro every week than actually *live* in Austin, and yet I was stuck for two solid sauna-like hours on the lower deck of 35.
One could say the same about the whole USA, what the hell happened to it? Just look at Massachusetts, started out as a colony of Christians, now gay marriage is legal there. What happened is that many people sold their soul to Satan for Jewish lies.

That explains the Mexicrap radio stations. Ever notice how Mexicans and other Central and South Americans always listen to the radio? Corporate radio executives surely have noticed the demographic shifts of one group favoring Ipods and one group favoring crappy radio music like the other group did a few years ago. Hopefully within five (maybe ten with the depression) years the spics will get Ipods and play something decent. That does leave the question of what will happen to the radio stations. Perhaps the government can use the airspace to broadcast propaganda. Edited for clarity especially to add a confusing "racist" slur
