it's been forever since I've posted here... Not sure I'll recognize anyone... but I was looking to see if anyone ever found out what happened to my friend Lois Zipporah who used to be a co-mod here... Robin? anyone?

I met Zipp right before she quit posting here, but I don't think I'm the reason for her absence:

Sept 2007 - Second Amendment Foundation Convention (feat/Ron Paul), asked her if she'd like to attend. She agreed, so I got a hotel room that weekend and tried to call her. Kept getting busy signal. Turns out the f*****g hotel I was staying at hadn't turned on my phone. I went to SAF dealie and then went back to hotel, complained about phone (sonsobitches demanded a credit card at check-in, told me it was for services like phone...)

Anyway, I got in touch with Zipp later and apologised for standing her up and we went out for supper and she drove me back to my hotel and I thought it went pretty nicely. I'd forgotten to bring a comb, and had her stop at like six different stores, but I'm sure we were having fun, it was like a quest...

Like I said earlier though, that was about the last I heard from her.

Her mother died a week before she disappeared... Her husband had died some months before, but he was a drunk who abused her... She'd mentioned to me that she met someone from this board, and seemed happy that she was to meet with the person... I don't think that triggered her disappearance... It was the sudden loss of her mother... Lois is an only child and her father died long ago... Her family consisted of her Mom, her nasty husband, & her two boys... The boys were grown up and had homes of their own... Losing her mother simply devastated her...She & I talked for hours about it on the telephone, as I'd recently lost my own Mum... and she was supposed to ring me back within a week and expected to meet up with someone from cyberland, I think he was a Texan she said, but I never heard back from her... That was 2 years ago... I've always been afraid that something terrible might have happened to her son who was in Iraq that drove her over the edge?? So I am glad to hear that she did make an appearance somewhere else and that some of you saw her... If anyone sees her again, please tell her that I am still waiting for that follow up phone call... i had contact with her long after her mother and her husband passed away. neither of her sons were in Iraq and her youngest was still living at home with her when we last communicated. she was also still employed at the same company she had been with for 2 or 3 yrs. i know a little more, but don't feel at liberty to divulge. what i don't know is why she suddenly decided to break all communication with me and other friends.

I was so sure of the things I'd said about the situation with Zipporah (that were in dispute & causing me to wonder whatever had made me think them?), that I recently rummaged through some archived, older messages between Lois & I on this forum (archived to preserve phone numbers & other personal & contact information) and discovered the direct source of my belief that her younger son had moved out and the older son was being stationed in Iraq thing...

Gist of discussion: In January of 2007, shortly after her mother died, I sent her a message from a mutual "friend" who had wanted to offer condolences. What ensued was that we continued discussing her horribly unsettled feelings swirling about as a result of losing her mother, during which time she'd mentioned that, on top of everything else, now her son was "in the process of moving out of the apartment attached to her home, resulting in "boxes of stuff being in the way and all over the place" which was adding to the confusion & distress she was already experiencing. Then she went on to mention some fears that her other son would get shipped off to Iraq, thus making her entire life a series of unsettled questions that threatened to pull her apart in multiple directions**...

After that short exchange, rather than type so much stuff, we again took our discussion to the telephone, so I've got no record of any other things that I had thought were going on... However, I distinctly recall that I also got the impression that she was hoping to move to Texas** but I don't know why or how or when...

** I believe it was Texas but I could be mistaken, human memory capacity being how fickle & often unreliable that it usually is...

I'm guessing (and hoping) that all of that changed in the time frame between my last communication with her and your last discussion with her...IOW, perhaps he canceled his plans and perhaps (I hope) the other son wasn't sent overseas.... Soooo, bottom line, if you hear from her, please let me know? and I'll do the same in return... Thanks... and have a most wonderful day...
