Yes, what happened to the anger and rage and indignant righteousness that founded this Republic?
The dumbing down began in the schoolrooms with history books that were little more than fairy tales for an increasingly effete and politically correct population.
Abraham Lincoln did not want to free the slaves. He wanted to send them back to where they came from. All he wanted was to preserve the Union.
Our forefathers were not afraid of being called insulting names. They would have stood up and shouted from the roof tops:
WE ARE WHITE MEN. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE WE TOOK IT FROM THE INDIANS!
We, on the other hand are afraid of being called racists, or Nazi's or anti- semites. There is black power, latino power, jewish power, but God forbid that white power should ever rear it's ugly head!
Sometimes I think we are paralyzed into a state of apathy because we believe we can never measure up to the Hollywood versions of our National heroes. Daniel Boone, General Custer, et al. You know the ones! I wonder what they were really like.
