www.StandWithArizona.com This Fourth of July weekend, a border watch will be going on in Southern Arizona under the close scrutiny of the Cochise County Militia.

Tom Fellows came to Tombstone from Prescott to meet up with the border watch group. His truck was stocked with folding chairs and plenty of water.

"You sit there all day and keep our eyes open," Fellows said.

Fellows says he wants to bring attention to an issue often left in the dust.

Awesome!

Not that much different than the Minutemen really, except that the Militia are more consistently trained, and in some cases better equipped. Some Minutemen are there, others not.

Some research skills you've got there, Toots. It's been widely covered especially since June 9.

Pretty conclusive demonstration of how out of touch you are with ongoing developments.

Wife alleges Minuteman founder threatened family

PHOENIX - A man who recently served as an adviser to John McCain’s rival and once helped launch the Minuteman border watch movement has been accused by his estranged wife of threatening to kill their family and any police who try to protect them.

Chris Simcox’s wife, who is seeking a divorce, alleges in court documents he brandished a gun and threatened to shoot his family on at least two occasions in late 2009 — four years after he became instrumental in founding the Minuteman movement, which brought thousands of anti-illegal immigration activists to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border and report suspected illegal migrants to the border patrol

Simcox's marital affairs have jack squat to do with the Minutemen!

Simcox personally founded the Minutemen, and his lack of character in his personal life speaks quite a bit of the kind of people who gravitate to him and the movement which places him at its top.

Not that I disagree with the basic principles, but once again we get somebody not fit for the "office" and some followers who can't recognize that.

Simcox personally founded the Minutemen

Your ignorance is showing. Jim Gilchrist founded the Minuteman Project (MMP), and teamed up with Simcox for the April 2005 border watch in Arizona. Two weeks into it, they split and Simcox formed the Minuteman Civil Defence Corps (MCDC).

I still have my original 2005 MMP card from Tombstone. I've never had, nor wanted an MCDC card.

Not to mention the fact that Simcox's board wanted to know where the money was going and got fired for it.

"MCDC'"s first word is "Minutemen," and Simcox was the first person to call the movement "Minutemen."

Through last year Simcox continued to speak for the MCDC until his recent resignation to pursue public office.

Chris Simcox

Chris Simcox (born 1961) is the American co- founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) and the project's main spokesperson....

In October 2002, Simcox issued a public call to arms, inviting readers of his newspaper, the Tombstone Tumbleweed, to join a "Citizens Border Patrol Militia"...

He founded Civil Homeland Defense, a group which patrolled the border,....

When the Civil Homeland Defense was first formed, Simcox's opponents claimed that it is illegal for a normal citizen who is in no way affiliated with law enforcement to detain people in the United States. Simcox claimed at that time that these detentions were justified under a "citizen's arrest" policy.[2] Since the inception of the MCDC, however, their "Standard Operating Procedure" (SOP) states that "Minutemen Observe, Report, Record, and Direct Border Patrol or other appropriate emergency or law enforcement agencies to suspected Illegal Aliens or Illegal Activities."[3]

In December 2004, Simcox teamed with James Gilchrist to organize the Minuteman Project,

Simcox was interviewed for the 2005 independent documentaryWetback: The Undocumented Documentary. Simcox also appeared in a 2006 documentary by Joseph Matthew and Dan DeVivo called "Crossing Arizona," and a 2007 documentary by Chris Burgard called "Border". He has been featured as a guest on The Political Cesspool. [4]

On April 21, 2006, Simcox sent a message to President George W. Bush asking him to send National Guard troops to guard the border or the "Minutemen" would begin construction of a wall along the border, built on private property.

Simcox has stated he does not receive a salary from Minutemen, and earns income via honoraria and fees received for speaking engagements. He claims to have sold his life story for a film that will soon go into production. [5]

Simcox announced he was stepping down from MCDC to challenge in the 2010 Republican primary the renomination of U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona, the party's 2008 presidential nominee.[6] Former U.S. Congressman J. D. Hayworth officially launched his bid on February 15, 2010, in Phoenix. His announcement led Simcox to drop his campaign and endorse Hayworth, saying that he wanted to present a united conservative front.[7]. On his campaign website Simcox announces that he steps down because "This race had quickly become bigger than what our family could manage" and "When JD Hayworth entered the race he was financially unable to continue. "
