Ok it is 2012. You aren't happy with Obama. Palin has won the republican nomination for president. It is election day. You are registered to vote. Do you pull the lever for Palin. Why or why not.

I am serious.

What is the difference between Obama and Bush?

I'll grant you Bush wouldn't have pushed through the health care disaster bill, but other than that...

And I'll guarantee you that under a pres Palin, the health care bill won't be repealed. That's not how it works. Dems always continue whatever the R's started, and the R's return the favor. Look at the Iraq war, for example.

I remember when Bill Clinton declared "The era of big government is over". That was in 1994 after the R's retook control of the House and Senate.

And the gov has done nothing but swell since then.

No, Stone, Palin is not the remedy for the very sick country of the USA. If there's any medicine out there, Ron Paul is it.

My hypothetical was Palin wins the nomination. If she wins she would be the best chance for a tilt in the right direction.

I have no delusion that she will do everything right or that I wouldn't be disappointed with some of what she does. But there are so many things she is better then Obama on.

Obama is better then her or any previous president on NOTHING!

"Best chance"?

And if you had to bet on whether a pig or a cow would fly first, you might say the pig has the best chance since it's lighter.

You have to recognize that the system is very disfunctional. Any positive, meaningful change is going to require something severely different, and that's not Palin. In fact, what the country might need most of all is something that makes it clear to the masses that the system IS busted, and perpetually giving people hope of positive change is one way to delay the reckoning that must ultimately come. In that way, the more "hopeful" a candidate may appear, the worse it could be in the long run.

And the long run is what you should think about. As one libertarian talk show host once said, we should hope for the worst possible candidate to get elected to bring about the inevitable fall as soon as possible, so we can restart with people wiser for the experience.

That is what happened in 2008. Now is the time to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

Also the supreme court. I didn't approve of Bushes nominees at the time. But in hindsight they turned out to be better then the dykes Owebama is offering up.

Palins picks to the court would be better.

Another reason is that a President becomes less accountable in a second term (no election to worry about) so they become more entrenched in their positions.

You wouldn't have that problem with Palin as she would want to be reelected.

We know for a fact that Obama sucks the big one. Palin or for that matter most any Republican nominee will have a chance to be better. And on domestic issues it isn't even close.

Oh, pull-ease. Let me tell you, things need to get a LOT worse before people wise up. As an example, the "great" depression in the 30's didn't do it. In fact it made the ignorant sheeple make the government that was ultimately responsible for it bigger!

Maybe with the internet sharing info, that wouldn't happen again, but things need to get really bad first. Sorry, but Obama isn't bad enough. At least not that anyone can see yet. Maybe after the new tax reporting laws kick in making just about every $600 transaction reportable.
