It was posted and captioned the way I have it on another forum. I trusted their accuracy. You know how it is when you assume. I've posted your picture there. We'll see what the response, if any, is.

Well, I relied in wiki so, the joke may be on me! ;)

They shouldn't have any reason to lie about these photos, since they're not running interference for Big Pharma, Israel, BushCo, Halliburton, etc.,.

But, I've also corrected enough errors at wiki to know that it's hardly the last word on any subject.

So, we'll see indeed.

Ok I got this reply:

I like how the true believers ignore and dissemble.
It is what losers do when they run out of points.
The photo I posted is from the log, and is dated March 15, 1959.
scgg02- the SS Skate went to the Arctic multiple times. The point is not that it came up through ice- that is what subs were designed to do.
The point is that in March of 1959 it came up in an open lead at the North Pole.
And that the lead was larger than the leadsin Touko's photo.
But please, true believers, cling to your apocalyptic clap-trap.

Seems like the poster flew into a rage at the mere question being asked.

Did he post a link to the "log"? (I'm betting not) But he did hurl ugly invective, hoping to discourage any pointed questions or request for validation.

According to NAVSOURCE (an authority on ship photos) the photo is marked (Date and Location unknown).

It's quite possible that the photo is one of many from the tour of The North Pole, but the fact that it's not recorded as an historic moment means that it probably isn't.

Ok I did a search on my own and came up with this. His picture came from NAVSOURCE as well.
