The Vatican twist to the immigration issue, they want the borders open. Catholic Scholar wants to deny sacrament ritual to 1070 supporters. PHOENIX - The battle over illegal immigration gets personal for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Some religious leaders are saying he should not be allowed to receive communion at church anymore because of his stance. A well-known Catholic scholar has written an article suggesting bishops deny Holy Communion to the sheriff and other supporters of SB 1070. In the Catholic church, receiving communion is one of the Holy Sacraments. In an article in the Washington Post Thursday, religious author Anthony Stevens-Arroyo suggested that Sheriff Arpaio should be denied communion over his support of Arizona's new immigration law. Now, the sheriff is reacting. "Let's not get personal about it and publicize my name -- and say that I should not go to church anymore and receive communion anymore. That's getting really personal, I would think," said Arpaio. Stevens-Arroyo printed: "Will any of today's bishops deny communion to Catholic officials who vote for this bill and its spawn of imitators in other states? Has censure been voiced against the local sheriff Joe Arpaio (a Catholic) who has led raids on Latinos? These are strategies used in the past by bishops." Sheriff Joe says it's not right to bring his religion into the political battle over illegal immigration. "I can see if something was immoral, where the church may become involved like the abortion issue -- but what's immoral about this, other than the fact laws were passed," he says. The Phoenix Diocese had no comment on the article. Sheriff Joe says he has no plans to stop receiving communion, and he hasn't heard anything about it from his priest.

Another example of why I left the Catholic Church decades ago. Once I opened my eyes and became aware of the Church's history, where people were tortured and put to death simply for not agreeing with their teachings, and the reign of terror they exercised across Europe, and experienced first hand the abuse their psychotic nuns could dish out, I realized how hypocritical they all were. They are FAR from being "holy", they are outright evil. They have ALWAYS tried to control world governments, and were once HUGELY successful at it. They are the remnants of the Roman Empire, and will not go quitely. Do they care about the victims of their illegal "flock"? Absolutely not, they simply want more warm bodies under their control, and that is what they get with these "visitors" who have no intention of following our laws, and no intention of becoming Americans.
If the sheriff supported pedophilia,homosexuality,or abortion they wouldn't deny him their communion they'd just cluck their tongues at him for the latter offense... what 'history' were you reading, and what agenda did the proponents have in writing it? there is more than one perspective on the crusades, inquisition, etc. More importantly, aside from the fact that human nature is sinful & sinners comprise the church (as well as saints), do you believe that Jesus Christ started millions of churches, all disagreeing and contradicting each other on numerous issues?

It was Emperor Constantine who founded the Roman Catholic Church, not Jesus Christ. Much of what the historical Jesus taught has been lost due to the mass roundups and exterminations of his true disciples, which arguably were Essenes, or Nazarines.
Still, if they assert themselves into politics, and cost me, as a taxpayer money, then they themselves should be taxed at the highest corporate rate. If special interests and big corporations can fuck us over, then churches should not be made any allowances.

Yea, sure I was. Let me straighten you out my friend. I voted for Barry Goldwater in 1964, Ronald Reagan in 1980, Pat Buchanan in 2000, and Wrote in Ron Paul's name in 2008. I actively campaigned for Buchanan and Paul and was county party chairman of the Patriot Party in Crawford County for 6 years. Apparently you never saw my rants for Buchanan on Freak Republic and on 4um for Ron Paul. I will be 67 this September and have only ever cast 4 votes for president in my lifetime. I only voted for Ronnie Reagan his first term. Being a strong union man and supporter, he pissed me off when he fired the air traffic controllers. If Jim Traficant were running in 1012 he would get my vote. I probably will write him in providing I go to the polls. I haven't voted period since 2008. Goldwater was a person I could have voted for. Reagan - no. After researching many of those involved in his campaign it became obvious that Reagan was nothing but a front man/actor who was surrounded and controlled by former neocon/liberals of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Neither bush would get my vote - that is America's political crime family. While I agree with some of Buchanan's ideology, he is too radical in some areas. At time he appears to be controlled by a hatred of those he doesn't like or disagrees with. Johnson was a criminal, Nixon a egotistical moron, Ford was a nothing, Carter surrounded himself with many of the neocons that moved into the Republican party, Reagan again a puppet whose administration may have been the most corrupt and one of the worst in U.S. history. Bush Sr and Jr. - nothing but organized political mafia and Clinton - he was a great con-artist but he was in the same group with the bush organized crime family. As far as Freeper Site - I wouldn't go near that site after reading some of the insane, childish and moronic posts there.
