One of the big mysteries in the Time Square bombing case has always been why a trained terrorist like Faisal Shahzad would build such a lousy bomb. Yesterday police revealed the answer: Shahzad was aware that the FBI monitors the purchase of supplies commonly used to make bombs, and he thought that by using inferior materials he could avoid detection. He was right, but the result was a bomb that failed to go off, the Wall Street Journal reports. Shahzad used non-explosive fertilizer, and comparatively weak M-88 fireworks, and the resulting bomb was a dud. Chalk it up as a win of sorts for the Bureau, because if he had used higher quality materials, the bomb would have killed thousands.

This guy, the Christmas Day bomber, the shoe bomber, the panty bomber, the blow up the Sears Tower bombers - all stooges and set-up patsies to gin-up the war on terriers. What a joke.
Considering the panic we've gone into over feeble gestures of terrorism, Al- Qaeda (and other evil-doers) has figured out that even a box of rocks, suitably positioned, will close down Times Square, or cause a plane to divert a flight, or other things that cost us thousands of dollars. The Times Square "bomb" alone cost a variety of disrupted businesses probably more than a million dollars altogether. Remember, in the movie "Jaws", that kid swimming with a plastic shark fin strapped to his back? Well, this is that. Once the jihadists got us sufficiently scared on Sept. 11th, they didn't need to waste any valuable persons or expensive equipment on paralyzing us and making us give up more of our comforts and our rights; they just sent a bunch of expendible stumblebums - I think almost all non-Arabs - with little more than firecrackers to make us panic.
So the "evil doers" are now limited to training Special Olypanians and then asking them to buy their own materials on the cheap? Given the rash of incapable morons that have been unleashed on us lately, I think we can consider cutting back on the DHS by at least 90%
