An unmarked police patrol vehicle parked behind the State College Borough Municipal building, 243 S. Allen St., was intentionally set on fire at 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The car was totaled due to heavy damage on the front end, police said.

Police are investigating whether this incident is connected with the June 21 arson of another unmarked police patrol cruiser parked in the same lot.

In the June 21 incident, a State College Police officer observed an unknown package of fire on the trunk area of the vehicle between 1:15 a.m and 1:30 a.m.

Hey, just another day in Big 10 Country !

July 2011 it's on. Not this season, next. Interested to see how the Divisions are sorted out and where the first CG will be held. I believe we'll know that next month possibly. The Big 12(-2)10 should be fun this year. Those hook'in whorns go to our House this year...then it would be nice to beat the Sooners for the CG in Dallas.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

It appears the locals are getting angry.

Southerners refer to suspicious fires as "selling it back to the Yankees". (and I understand that Yankees refer to it as "selling it back to the Jewsies")

Maybe those vehicles have high mileage and would bring little toward replacement costs at auction....

"But, WHY?"

Was probably written up in the police report, as Spontaneous Patrol Car Combustion. The car had been under a lot of stress lately, and wasn't sure about its future in law enforcement, was really conflicted, and decided to end its own life by exploding.

Thank God that the little automotive terrorist didn't hurt any innocent bystanders.

Nothing is mentioned about the survivor's guilt that the patrol officer is experiencing, or how he saw the signs, but didn't know how to tell anyone.

It's sad when a car takes its own life like that. In fact, we had a car do that last year, when it's heart just wasn't into hauling the groceries around. We got the transmission replaced, as it's suicide attempt wasn't successful.

I can still feel the weighty sadness in its heart when I put lumber in the back for projects. I almost choke up thinking about what I would have done had I found my four wheeled friend had taken its own life.

Sniffle.
