Britain's fattest woman dies of heart attack after junk food binge in hospital bed By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 10:16 AM on 26th July 2010

Britain's fattest woman has died from a heart attack after her family smuggled takeaways and junk food into her hospital room, it has been revealed. Junk food addict Sharon Mevsimler, 40, weighed 45 stone and needed an oxygen mask due to the strain her weight put on her heart and lungs.

But witnesses at Broomfield Hospital - where she had been a patient for two months - said relatives brought in fish and chips and family-sized buckets of fried chicken to the mother-of-four.

Mrs Mevsimler, whose husband Bulent gave up his job as a chef to look after her, died at the weekend.

An NHS source told The Sun: 'She obviously had a serious underlying problem with food, but did nothing to help herself.

'Those who came to visit her in hospital did her no favours.

'We saw them bringing in various fatty foods like fish and chips and huge portions of fried chicken when she should not have been eating these things. 'It was infuriating to see her literally eating herself to death.'

**********The mother-of-four, who was just 5ft tall, had received 24-hour care since 2005 - including a three-month stint in the exclusive £5,000-a-month Priory Clinic paid for by the NHS. *************

She had begun to comfort eat after suffering severe post-natal depression.

She is also believed to have undergone a £30,000 gastric by-pass operation earlier this year.

Doctors told her she had just months to live in 2007 because of her size - then 42 stone.

Mrs Mevsimler said earlier this month: 'I have been left to die. If I was anorexic I would get proper help but no one has sympathy for obese people.' She had been confined to a specially strengthened bed at the hospital in Chelmsford.

The hospital has refused to comment.

Her death comes just months after Britain's biggest man - 70-stone Paul Mason from Ipswich - underwent a gastric by-pass to control his obesity.

Well, here's the thing.

In our country, people like that are called shut ins. Sure, we have a few of them, and from time to time they make the headlines.

The thing that we'll see in this country, is fat people rounded up and their fat siphoned off for FUEL. Actually, more than likely when the roundups happen, they'll use fat people to help burn the bodies of the skinny undesirables. Less fuel use that way.

Sad. The chemical additives in a lot of junk food are highly addictive - and intentionally so. Most people are unaware of the appetite stimulants that are loaded into most junk food and are equally unaware that they are addicted to it. For example one of KFC's "secret ingredients" is MSG - which is addictive and in continued use causes neurologic problems as it overstimulates nerve, and brain, cells to death. Ditto Aspartame a.k.a. Nutra-Sweet/Nutra-Death now renamed Amino-Sweet which is also a nerve stimulant (known as an excito-toxin because it stimulates sensory nerves to death).

SonOfLiberty--who do you think paid for her to sit in a hospital bed for 5 years with 24/7 support? And all the while, she is porking down junkfood, even afer her $300K gastric bypass surgery that, again, was paid for by the taxpayers. Sheesh, I can't believe you of all people condone that crap.

Sure if she did this at home on her own dime, more power to her. But, that's not the case. She's a poster porker for all this is horribly wrong with the welfare state.

In Britain, you don't get a real choice on where you get your care from. Unless you're a politician or a movie star that goes to the States to get treatment from a horrible evil "for profit" totally evil American medical establishment.

Mark my words, the "it's not on your dime" rhetoric you state now, will be used against you when the time comes in America when we end up like Britain. Which should be, I'm figuring, around 2014. Just you wait. And when it comes, get ready to be dictated to in every facet of your life, from how much salt you're allowed to use, to how much extra 'tax' you'll be commanded to pay for any guns you own, if you're allowed to keep them at all.

NHS is falling apart under the weight of porkers like this woman. They are, right now, seeking to make significant changes to the free for all system.

Nobody better dare attempt to regulate my salt or charge anymore for my little buddy, Sig. That kinda talk will spark a revolution. : )

Ohio.

My family hails almost wholly from two places - Scotland and England. My grandfather still spoke of putting groceries in a poke (from gaelic pogue), and my grandmother occasionally spoke words that sounded...odd...to American ears but which apparently come from her family's stomping grounds in England. She never lived there, but probably inherited them from her grandparents, etc.

I wasn't aware that my word choice was curious to be honest, is it strange? Seems a common place saying? Maybe just common where I live?

Isn't that the fault of the people of Britain who demanded that the government give them "free" health care? The only alternative to treatment would have been to put her on a death list created by a death panel, which is what the libtards here in the states claim the "heartless" insurance companies do. As heartless as this may be, as far as I am concerned the people are getting exactly what they wanted. They wanted their own health care to be "free" they got it. Unfortunately for them, others' care is going to be "free" as well.

The appropriate way IMHO would be to have a free market system in which a private insurance company could drop her for her irresponsible behavior and she would then have either been forced to shape up or die in her bed five years ago, a victim of her own life choices.

Several months ago there was an article about obese white woman married to a black man who got off on fat women. The fatter the better. IIRC her goal was to be the fattest woman in Britain in order to make her husband happy. I sure hope a family member sends her a copy of this article so she can see where she is heading.

To put a silver lining into that cloud, consider the notion of a woman working to please her husband, instead of obeying the conditioning to be constantly opposed to him.

FWIW, I'm not into defending obese people, being a fitness guy myself. But live and let live is pretty deeply ingrained in my soul.

I agree one hundred percent which is why I am so passionately against the government and its authoritarian sycophants on both sides of the aisle passing laws which create a society in which they can use "the general welfare" as justification to control us all. I can see it now. It's for the "general welfare" (i.e. health care cost control) that all Americans must wake up at 0600 in the morning, go out to their front yards and perform one hour of calisthenics under the eye of their "friendly" neighborhood government snitch. You see, since Americans are not responsible enough to exercise on their own, our ever-loving servants in DC must pass laws to ensure that it be done. After all, it's for our own good, i.e. general welfare.

We see the same sort of laws being written today (WOD, WOT, WOthis, WOthat)in the name of the "general welfare." For instance, they must be given the ability to smash down our doors and murder us in the name of saving society from (insert drug of choice here). It's for the general welfare. They must be given the ability to enter our homes without our knowledge in order to protect us from terrorism. It's for the general welfare. You get my meaning I'm sure.

I live just 15-20 minutes north of OSU, but not in Columbus or Franklin county proper. Columbus is an educated white collar town, as well as a college town, so there are a bevy of very attractive type folks that live here. Driving down 23/High Street through campus in spring time is an invitation to low speed auto accidents, because you're so busy craning your neck at the hot chicks. As a friend of mine who visited from Oregon recently said "You have an amazing amount of talent walking around here in Columbus", meaning beautiful women. You don't start hitting the scary fat types until you go down south of Columbus (though Grove City, on the outskirts, is pretty frightening). I try to stay away from Cleveland and Toledo though, so maybe they're that way too, dunno?

Yes and no. I don't eat junk food - other than a couple of bags of Organic Corn Chips a few months ago (I do bake my own treats), and the Pepsi habit (which I have kicked) and yet nevertheless I have a chronic weight problem and I am not inactive. My body simply wants to regulate and stabilize at a level most people regard as overweight. Yet I plant and maintain a large garden every year, love the outdoors, etc., .... And I would be willing to bet I eat less than many people. A funny anecdote from my service days - I took a lot of heat for my physique - to the point where everything I ate was watched, and I had one of the guys walk up to me and say "I don't know how you stay so heavy with what you eat". He was flabbergasted at how little I actually ate and yet without a regular work-out I did not lose weight. The only way I have ever been able to keep it in a "normal" range is on a 1600 calorie diet and working out 6 days a week.

It takes knowledge to understand which foods are toxic and which are not. Anymore most Grocery Store foods contain one or more toxic ingredients and most major brands infuse their products with appetite stimulants. If you are not a label reader, as I am, then you would probably be shocked at the number of toxic ingredients you are consuming. And part of reading the label is knowing what you are looking at which is not something the media educates on - their advertisers wouldn't like it.

We need to take this diet to Hollywood. Some of those people would pay us big money to starve them like that. Just have a nice building, even a nice room or two in a nice building, call it a "spa" and starve them nearly to death.

Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end.
Lord Acton

He (Gordon Duff) also implies that forcibly removing Obama, a Constitution-hating, on-the-down-low, crackhead Communist, is an attack on America, Mom, and apple pie. I swear these military people are worse than useless. Just look around at the condition of the country and tell me if they have fulfilled their oaths to protect the nation from all enemies foreign and domestic.
