AMANDA MYERS, Associated Press Writers PHOENIX (AP) 53; A judge has blocked the most controversial sections of Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect Thursday, handing a major legal victory to opponents of the crackdown. Judge Blocks Parts Of Arizona Immigration Law
The law will still take effect Thursday, but without many of the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws. The judge also put on hold a part of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places.
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton put those controversial sections on hold until the courts resolve the issues.
Opponents say the law will lead to racial profiling and is trumped by federal immigration law.

The judge is, of course, a Clinton appointee. This could simmer until the election. Or, the Arizona governor could take the steps necessary of a true leader, and tell the Federal government to kiss her ass, and go ahead and enforce the fully Constitutional law anyway. If she does the later, she will have almost the entire nation, sans 11% of socialists/progressives (socialists/progressives are almost wholly disarmed to begin with), behind her. She will show the FedGov to be utterly impotent, and she'd have our guns to back her up across the nation. Of course, the Fed would respond, and that would trigger rather immediate violence. One wonders if she has the spine to do what duty to nation calls her to do, or will she cop out and wait for November in some kind of vain hope that the same two parties screwing us over now will somehow, change. I don't know about others, but I'd stand up for the right action.

I don't get this 'racial profiling' BS - if a person is stopped for a traffic violation, or rape, or theft, etc., doesn't have any papers and can not speak English, are cops really supposed to ignore it? what next? Read it, then challenge any whimpering simple minded progressive to point out where the racism is. They can't. Because there is none in it. For all that's right and good, I hope and pray that the governor of Arizona tells the FedGov and their progressive judges to go to hell, and starts enforcement tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath that a politician will ultimately do the right thing. And it's a goddamned shame. These dirty sons of a bitch do whatever they want, without regard to any law or Constitutional restraint, and yet we're expected to abide by their crap and kowtow to them as if they were legitimate servants, when in fact they're nothing more than blatantly and proudly lawless thugs. He could very well boot the feds out of HIS county. If he does, AZ will become a powder keg. I hope it does. As it stands now, Illegals aren't required to produce ID while American citizens will. In the end, this is a good ruling. People need to be smacked around a bit more before they take action.

This alone should convince any fence sitters that disobeying the "prove you have insurance!" crap is the absolute right thing to do. If they won't enforce clear laws at the Federal level, and the states are not allowed to enforce said laws (hey, aren't other states cops helping INS?), then they have no right to ask me to prove jack shit about anything. To hell with these scumbags.

LOVING your righteous anger, SoL. IMO, today's ruling - at the insistence of Obama - is as big a mistake as His continued wars in Iraq, Pakistan & Afghanistan. As of this moment, AZ and other border states are being invaded and our troops are elsewhere. I hope they get a clue....
I think that an important point but not for the same reason. We appear to be getting set up for another change out of "figure heads". Oh'bummer and the D's have played their cards and now it is time for the other horn of the dialectic to implement more of the "Republican side" of the one true agenda. So, it is necessary to create enough angst against the D's to create the push for a change in puppets.

I don't see how the Arizona immigration law is controversial, but even if it is, that is still not a reason for a federal judge to block it. The only reason a federal judge can block any law is if it goes against the Constitution of the USA. Last time I checked the Constitution does not grant foreigners the right to ignore our laws and come here illegally. Susan Bolton is of course just another stooge for the elite, but she will soon learn the "peasants" are the ones who will decide this issue, not the elite.

My point though is that the psychological environment is being manipulated to create that result. It is a matter of intent not merely wishful thinking on the part of the Sheeple. The thing people have to get is the sheer level of constant psychological manipulation ongoing.

Every day I feel more and more like I'm living in a nightmare that I can't wake up from. This is unbelievable. I thought Bush was the worst of the worst, but if you look at where we were 19 months ago compared to now, it seems like a utopia of liberty. And that's eff'ing saying something, given that the whole DHS apparatus was already in place then. Christ this is unbelievable. I know it is futile, but I wish I could wake up and find myself in 1985 with the sun shining and a bright future ahead. But I can't. God only knows what tomorrow brings now. I don't know. On our local radio show there have been a string of calls now calling for secession, for the same "she should enforce it anyway" thing I was stating, and such. Nobody I hear, as of yet, is calling for voting in Republicans. This of course may well be a small blip on a large radar screen.

Bolton blocked the following sections of SB-1070 arguing that “the United States is likely to succeed on the merits in showing that…[they] are preempted by federal law” and the “United States is likely to suffer irreparable harm” in the absence of an injunction: Portion of Section 2 of S.B. 1070: Requires police to inquire about the immigration status of anyone they stop, detain, or arrest if they reasonably suspect the person is in the country illegally. Section 3 of S.B. 1070: Criminalizes the the failure to apply for or carry immigration documents. Portion of Section 5 of S.B. 1070: Criminalizes the solicitation, application for, or performance of work by an undocumented immigrant. Section 6 of S.B. 1070: Authorizes the warrantless arrest of a person where there is probable cause to believe the person has committed a public offense that makes the person “removable.”

Since the incident of the LA governor being prohibited by the EPA to dump rocks forming a barrier reef to protect her shoreline, I'd been thinking about how a revolution might be sparked, and I think that's the key. You can forget about random rights activists starting to shoot. That won't do it. In 1776, revolution was started when an official body representing the colonies decided to start it. In the war between the states, it happened after the south declared it and military tensions broke at Ft Sumter. In LA, the governor could have said "enough" and boarded the boat doing the work, buying it if need be, declaring him/herself as captain, pick up the material and head full throttle to the drop site. And if any coast guard or other federal ships that get in the way, then the governor takes the helm, giving the opposing captain 60 seconds warning before ramming them. That's how revolutions start -- not by a few people holing up in some house in the middle of the woods shooting at fed agents coming to get them, but when a political figurehead does something serious. As for AZ, perhaps Brewer should disregard the fed law, but I think it would be more politically prudent to wait and see how the fed court rules on it. She'd have more support from angry Americans/AZians that way than by jumping the gun and second guessing the courts.

I remember the LA gov being PO'd with the EPA, but not much of the details, including that one. And am too lazy to look it up.
