If anyone is going to be in DC this weekend, the people from http://www.YellowCakeWalk.net will be teaming up with a Street Theater / Mime Troop from San Francisco for a special marathon chimp slapping this Sunday.

The event will take place on the North side of the White House and should run from about 12:30 until dark. Anyone who shows up is welcome to take part in the festivities.

A few Bush masks will be available on site for the walk ons, but it would be helpful if you could bring your own.

Incidentally, I just heard that Wayne Cramer from the MC5 is going to be one of the acts at the 3:00 PM concert. Is this a blast from the past or not? (1 image)

MC5?

It's a radical 60s band.

The MC5 was supposed to be part of the White Panther Party. They had one hit called "Kick Out The Jams (MFer)"

They weren't very good but their album is a bit of a collectors item.

You're not giving them enough credit where credit is due. Before the Ramones, before Iggy, before even Lou Reed, there was The MC5. If you really want to trace the roots of punk back to the very beginning, you have to go back to The MC5. In their own way they were a major step forward in music. Well, at least a major step sideways, if you will...

He was a guy from Detroit who sang "Kick Out the Jams Motherfuckers" on the old 1968 MC5 album. The one with all the flags on it. The band used to play at the Fillmore, Cow Palace and Longshoremans's Hall in SF. They would headline the Thursday free nights at the Fillmore. People would get really nuts on that night and throw empty wine bottles at the band. The MC5 was too oblivious to notice stuff like that so they were naturals for the job.

Cramer got really fat and bald and then tried to make a come back in 1998. He got his picture on one of the LA Music mags giving the finger.

I went to a party and met his manager at that time. She was a really earnest young girl about 28 years old. She was shocked someone actually knew who Wayne Cramer was. I think I was in pretty good shape at that time and we were talking in dark front yard of the house - so she couldn't really see how old I was.

I have the album with the manifesto & MFer lyrics,I was going to frame it.

Unfortunately I don't have a turn table to listen to it on and it's in storage.

I'll Limewire up some of their music and give it a listen

I actually like Kick Out the Jams. It really has balls. I listen to it on the IR headphones when I run the vacumn cleaner and other stuff around the house that requires physical activity. SOS by Motley Crew is also good for house cleaning.

I use an obscure Bay Area band named "Horsey" for that kind of stuff, "Abuser1 Abuser2" and "Forever Jorge White" are just great for getting the blood pumping. That and "Nuclear Rabbit". "Alone with my Clone" is a masterpiece, better than a shot of strong espresso.

Since I like you, here's a couple of links I think you'll enjoy. How about a free listen to some excerpts from Horsey's album "Diet of Worms", with such popular favorites as Forever Jorge White followed by Abuser1 Abuser2 and while I'm at it, here's Veva which is another favorite song of theirs.

Here's a picture of the band. Enjoy!

I heard this was valuable. By the time I got around to buying the album back in the 1960s they had censored this and changed Kick Out the Jams MF to Kick out the Jams Brothers and Sistes. I didn't get the MF version until I bought a re- issued CD last spring.

I don't have speakers for the computer here. I will have to wait until I am at work to listen to this. I think I'll buy some head phones at lunch and then I can listen to the music that gets posted here properly. This has been an ongoing problem. I'll have to wait until tonight to let you know what I think.
