Pious Perverts See other Pious Perverts Articles Title: Medicare Fraud I recently read in the paper that a man who had been my doctor briefly 25 years ago was found not guilty by a jury of Medicare fraud. He was facing up to ten years in prison. After the verdict he said “the government” (i.e. taxpayers) still owes him $130,000. Apparently he had been going into nursing homes and homes for disabled people and cleaning their ears and other minor stuff and charging astronomical amounts. The doctor said the prosecutor failed to take into account looking at the charts, etc. I’m not going to comment on the doctor and whether he’s really guilty or not – except to say that he is. I worked for a year in a nursing home when I was 21. In those days we could clean wounds and change bandages, clean their ears, etc. As an aside, in some cases the wounds wouldn’t heal, so I sneaked in various herbs (goldenseal, for one, I think) and sprinkled them on the wounds and bandaged them. They crusted up and healed. No one knew what I had done, but these days I’d be fired, maybe charged, and that goes on the state registry, which means that’s it for me working in the health-care industry in my state. I’ve always been one to push the envelope and ignore stupid laws and rules. Authority means zilch to me if it doesn’t know what it’s doing. As another aside, one of my moronic drug addict friends, now croaked from a drug overdose, once stepped on a nail. The wound would not heal, and the doctor wanted to ream it out. He said no. I had him drop tea tree oil into the wound and bandage it. It healed. When he showed the doctor, he said, “I don’t know what you’re doing, but keep doing it.” I still work in a nursing home these days as a CNA. The law has changed. I can adjust a bandage, but not change or clean a wound. A nurse has to do it. A doctor has to clean ears, etc. These are things a CNA can do, not a doctor who charges $75 a hour. That’s why the doctor got in trouble, charging $50 for 20 minutes work, if not more. His charges apparently ran into hundreds of thousands of dollars – all taxpayer money, of course. One of my friends, who is a podiatrist, had to pay back over $100,000 in Medicare charges because his receptionist filled out the forms wrong. He said if he had to do it over again he would have been a coach in high school. The purpose of bad laws is to take money from average people and transfer it to the politically connected, such as a doctor cleaning ears for astronomical amounts of money instead of a CNA doing it. Those who support nationalized health care are going to be as sorry as can be if we ever get it. The most basic economic law – and even the idiotic economists from Harvard and Yale understand this – is that when people perceive as costs as dropping to nothing, demand will skyrocket. This problem is made even worse by fact half the population has an IQ less than 100. Therefore, there will always be shortages, which manifests itself as rationing. Sarah Palin had the perfect description – “death panels.” That’s exactly what they are. In northern Europe that rationing affects premies. The doctors don’t save them. They put them to the side to die. In the rest of Europe once you reach a certain age you don’t get treatment – you get painkillers until you die. In Canada the only reason their socialized health-care system works is because they are parasites on us. When a Canadian has something serious they come down here. Up there, if a woman’s Pap smear comes back suspicious, she might have to wait three months to get any treatment. It could be too late by then. The U.S. government knows perfectly well that under a nationalized health-care system that while everyone will be covered, the quality of the coverage will go down substantially. They know it, and they don’t care. The area in between New York and L.A. is called Flyover Land. The people in it are hillbillies out of “Deliverance” and only good for cannon fodder. They cling to their guns and Bibles and of course need to have those things taken away and have to be ruled by the intellectually and morally superior in D.C. It’s amazing the number of people who don’t know this. When I explain to people that nationalized health-care will only degrade the health-care system even further (we need to go toward the free market to make it better, not away from it) some of them – the leftists – refuse to believe it, and in fact redouble their intellectual and emotional efforts to convince themselves it will work. They remind me of the Cowardly Lion in “The Wizard of Oz,” squeezing his eyes shut and praying, “I wish, I wish.” My mother worked for 25 years as an admitting clerk at night in a hospital ER. I once asked her how many people who came in who did not need treatment. She said 90% of them, and of course they never paid. As I said, IQs of less than 100. Many years ago I had to go to that ER because of an ear infection. My mother admitted me ahead of two women in the waiting room, one crying hysterically. When I asked my mother what her problem was, she told me “She has a headache,” but had been there several times before and was looking for drugs. It’s a really common thing among white trash (and I was raised with these people so I know then inside and out) to go to the hospital (especially on a Friday night) and look for drugs to hold them over the weekend. My mother ignored the crying woman until both of them left. This is an example of rationing by ignoring parasites and frauds. I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who act like children and think the government is a parent who can take care of everything, when in reality it can barely do anything competently.
