Much easier to buy a jug of BB's, contact cement, and a heavy cardboard tube. The bb's go on the outside in five to ten layers or so, each successively glued into place. The explosive charge goes into the center of the tube. Wa-la "Instant Claymore™".

One side of a Claymore is pointed at the enemy. Everyone on the other side is safe. Your contraption is designed to shoot yourself, no matter which direction you run after you light the fuse.
No, you can just put BB's on one side. It's not my idea so I can't take credit for it. I read a post by someone else on another forum I used to post on. He suggested using one of the Estes igniters for model rockets connected to a battery. That way you can set up a field of them, and run the leads through a switch. Just use coated copper wire for the leads.. You can put a cinderblock behind them to prevent any back blast.

I would mount this on a radio-controlled car and find some way to light it by remote-controll. Some guy would smile at it right before I shot him in the foot.
