Everyone here has six months of water and food, right?

I do have a berkey lite water filter and the mohawk river down the street. :)
I live in the city of schenectady right now. Not a good place to be in a meltdown. When Giuliani cleaned out NYC most of the trash moved to cities like schenectady, so I am expecting LA type rioting when the shelves go empty. For that event, I have been stocking up on ammo and filling holes in my gun cabinet.
One thought these videos triggered in me head was how do I safeguard my most important preparations, since I won't always be able to be here to guard them. I decided that my next step is going to be to build false walls into a couple of my closets with enough room to stash some food, a large gun and ammo supply, reloading stuff, water filter, junk US silver, etc. I'll leave a tiny portion out to satisfy looters.
Using 3/4" plywood, I can make a convincing wall that won't be easily breachable. I'll paint it to match and hope that the spooks won't be smart enough to figure it out. :)
Not really. We have one (since Y2k) and have never used it. We have a well, so as long as we can get water out of it (even if we have to bail it out with a bucket), we won't really need the Berkey. I guess you have to consider your likely water source and how dirty/contaminated it might be, ie: rain water, pond water, etc. Some pre-filtration (with coffee filters/cheesecloth) might be required to get the big particles out and then the water can be dumped into the Berkey to do the rest. The Berkeys with the light are cool looking but I don't know how practical.
