This, of course, is only .000000000000000000000000001% of what men have invented.

I will admit they had some cool names back in those days.

I had an aunt named Ruby of all names.

How about Hedy Lamarr? She patented frequency hopping back in 1942 for a torpedo guidance system though, unfortunately, the patent ran out before it became the basis for secure communications in the military in the Sixties. Over the last twenty years, frequency hopping is used in everything from routers to mobile phones to satellites.

Hedy was one smart broad.

one more I remembered -

Mary Anderson: Inventor of the Windshield Wiper Blade *** In 1903, Mary Anderson was granted her first patent for an automatic windshield cleaning device, known as a windshield wiper blade.

I had an aunt named Ruby of all names.

Always makes me think of this ol' song.

www.youtube.com/watch? v=TprfUdSAHgM

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ... We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of." Edward Bernays, Father of Public Relations

Not to mention legendary for "other" accomplishments.

Tesla had his in 1900.

Well yeah, but that's not near as chic as giving the credit to some POS shoplifting jewess.

Godfrey Smith: Mike, I wouldn't worry. Prosperity is just around the corner.
Mike Flaherty: Yeah, it's been there a long time. I wish I knew which corner.

I must not have the right plug-in - it just shows a big blank space.

Not the same thing.

There were earlier German efforts as well.
