Americans have been fed up with illegal immigration for so long that they are willing to accept almost any solution that is offered to purportedly stop the problem. A typical example of this was the REAL ID act, which was supported by many, but not all, immigration activists a few years ago. Discerning people realized the privacy violations and innapropriate federal government involvement in drivers licenses would not fix the immigration problem. Similarly, Arizona's SB 1070 had been championed by sovereignty advocates as some magic fix-all to the illegal immigration problem. A federal judge in Arizona blocked the main provisions of the law last month, resulting in praise by some and harsh criticism by others.The law had been set to take effect July 29th. Governor Jan Brewer issued a statement after the ruling, saying 'This fight is far from over. In fact, it is just the beginning" of a "long legal struggle".
What few people have mentioned is that the law itself is completely unnecessary, since local law enforcement already have the ability to request ID and legal status from people they stop. Why then the big push to have states pass "special laws" to give police supposed authority to request immigration status from people, when they already have complete legal authority to do so? This accomplished nothing other than creating an opportunity for the federal government to meddle into an issue which had already been ruled on by none other than the U.S. Supreme Court, decades ago. All Arizona had to do was to simply enforce the existing laws. But as you will see below, they did not want to. Now, because of this circus in Arizona, states will be hesitant to dare attempt to do something which they have every right to do. This is order out of chaos. The government creates a problem, generates an expected reaction from the naive public, and then offers their "solution". OrwellToday offers numerous examples of 'big brother staged events', or 'Order out of Chaos', (ORDO AB CHAO in Latin). Most often such events involve staged events of terrorism in order to justify wars and a police state. With the immigration issue, the government gets everyone worked up, quarelling with each other, and then gets people to accept the ludicrous notion that the feds, who created the problem on purpose, must settle the matter in 2010 via legislation and court rulings. Here is a brief history of the matter. Hopefully, patriots will see through the nonsense and wil not fall for faux patriots such as socialist Jan Brewer and statist jackboot Senator Russell Pearce.
Police in Arizona turned down the chance to enforce the law four years ago, as reported by FOX News:
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 PHOENIX — Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed a bill that would have criminalized the presence of illegal immigrants in Arizona, citing opposition from police agencies that want immigration arrests to remain the responsibility of the federal government"
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) extensively documents that "....federal courts had repeatedly affirmed since 1984 that local police may inquire into immigration violations in the course of a routine stop"....."Local police departments have always had the ability to collaborate with the INS in enforcement operations."....."It is illegal for local governments to prohibit police cooperation with the INS, and individual officers who report violations are protected by law."
American Patrol reports "The ruling in United States vs. Ontoniel Vasquez-Alvarez strikes down the widespread urban myth that local police have no power to arrest illegal aliens....State and local law enforcement officials are free to arrest criminals SOLELY ON THE BASIS of illegally being in the U.S."
