Sheriff's officials responded to a call from the girls' father, who said John Hester, 47, had kissed his 5-year-old and 8-year-old daughters, according to a statement from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Hester admitted to deputies that he kissed the two girls, the statement said, and he also told authorities he had hepatitis C. "I kissed the girls on the lips, and they must have ran back and told their dad," Hester said, according to the Sheriff's Office. "I messed up. I should not have kissed them." The Sheriff's Office said there may be additional victims. According to the statement, it wasn't unusual for the girls to be at Hester's home to play with his grandchildren. The father, whose name is not being released by The Arizona Republic to protect the identities of the victims, said he found out Wednesday about the allegations. "I came home from work, and everyone was hysterical," the father said. His oldest child told him about the younger siblings' visit with Hester. The father said that Hester told the girls that his grandchildren weren't home but could have ice cream while they waited. The father took the youngest girl to the hospital to have her tested for hepatitis C, which is transmitted through contact with an infected person's blood. Results of the test are not yet available. Hester was arrested and booked at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center. Anyone with additional information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Brian Hillman with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. He can be reached at 520-866-5143 or brian.hillman@pinalcountyaz.gov. Poster Comment: I guess this fellow Hester wasn't so smart in kissing these girls on the lips. but was it aggravated assault? 4 counts?!?!? the girls came to his house. as a result he was arrested. who assaulted who? reasonably, the girls did not assault Hester. but the police did. maybe the father should've just gone to Hester's house and in a friendly/polite way explained that the girls were upset by him kissing them, and asked the man not to do this. and maybe the father should've told his daughters not to visit Hester's house if it was so offensive. who is really harmed by this chain of events. Its not the little girls IMHO. it was Hester. and he meant no harm I believe. Does he have kiddie porn on his computer? Has he ever molested a little girl? I strongly disapprove of men (& women) who think it is OK to have sex with children or even under-age teenagers. I know that these things harm people very badly. Children exposed to that can easily be harmed for life.
