Meg Whitman's campaign spokesman has replied to a query regarding California's AB 1934, a proposed bill which would outlaw open carry of firearms in California. The biill has been proposed by Democratic Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, who fears that carrying guns "creates a very dangerous situation". The Los Angeles County Sheriffs have come out in favor of the bill, along with the L.A. Mayor, several cities and newspapers.

I contacted the Republican candidate's campaign and asked "What is Meg Whtiman's position on AB 1934, and open carry of firearms in California, which is currently legal? If she is elected governor, would she sign or veto this bill? Also, what is her position on the 2nd Amendment in general?"

Darrel Ng, Spokesperson for Meg Whitman 2010, responded:

Here are Meg's thoughts on the issue "I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and our clear constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I believe current gun laws need to be enforced but we do not need any new restrictions on gun owners. Their current rights, as set forth in the Second Amendment, must be rigorously protected." Thanks!

I believe current gun laws need to be enforced

Their current rights, as set forth in the Second Amendment, must be rigorously protected."

So which is it, shall not be infringed, or enforce current illegal legislation?

She can't decide? Straddling the fence.

At least she's not in favor of any more infringements, for the moment.

My joy over McCain's defeat, is offset by my disappointment over hObama's victory.

I had no idea that open-carry was legal in Kalifornia.

Clearly, she's in favor of keeping the existing law which allows open carry.

And as to the .50cal ban, the Barrets designed and built the Barrett .416 which is even nastier than their .50. (Plus, they won't service any LE .50's from CA.)

She is Goldman Sachs she will be our next governor. Arnie redo. Poisner was CFR. There was another one who was very constitutional but you never heard about him.

She is not a member of CFR but she is supported by them. Poisner was a member.

i read members of a gun forum arguing that moonbeam brown was actually pro gun,, but then others refuted that, including the fact he once pulled a .50 caliber bullet out of his pocket at a press conference & insisted that they have no place in a civil society. lol. fail on the brown apologists! not that whitman is good either, though

Well that is the thing. We get a choice between NWO lackey #1 or NWO lackey #2. Either way, they win, we lose and yet people go on believing we live in a "democracy". *rolls eyes*
