Easy to demean the military these days, however if one has not been there, they do not fully understand the comradeship.

Was thinking the other day about the "skills" taught back in my day '65-'68, and what the kids these days are being trained in.

The skills that I learned at LTV back then, were how to do dollar and dime patches on the fuselage, clean and remove the fuel bladders, and install mini-cannons on the C-130 gunships.

At the height of our police action, they were working three shifts, 24/7, at cost plus.

God only knows how much they made on that CF in the jungle.

Least of my worries.

They give "time out" cards in Army basic now. I know that's supposed to be an "urban legend" but I tell you straight up, I've met a soldier just out of BT recently, who told me to my face, that they give "time out" cards to waify little "men" who can't take basic training exercises, or get "stressed out" by DI's. I didn't even ask him about it, he told me (and my wife, we were at a dinner, and they were seated at our table) spontaneously during a conversation and he wasn't happy about it. This was 2005.

No, sorry, but I'm not worried about a military that needs to give "stress breaks" to its soldiers. I was a soldier, and I didn't get stress breaks, and I'm still fit and young (compared to most of you old f*ckers on this site, lol). I don't fear an adversary that needs to see counselors because some guy yelled at him too much.

Anywho...
