This is a slap in the face. The supporters of the Ground Zero Mosque are planning something that is insulting to everyone who suffered in the September 11th atrocities. In a crass move, a protest is planned on the ninth anniversary of the murders even as the site's Twitter feed asks for contributions: "The Cordoba Initiative needs your help!!! Please donate on our website and help support our programs that focus on [peace, tolerance, and understanding!]"
The protests come as those against the project will also be speaking out:
"Muslim and Arab-American groups will meet later this week to discuss how to mark the anniversary, which could coincide with the Muslim holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr.
"We're not going to do (a rally) across the street. That's not the approach that we're doing," said Linda Sarsour, the director of the Arab American Association of New York."
